Ok... Maybe it's because it's on tap and I'm in Oslo!!!! But, I thought this was really really good. Paired perfectly with my reindeer stew. Don't see many Norwegian beers in the states so this is a treat.

500 ml bottle, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Batch #315, ABV is 6%. Hazy deep golden colour. Huge and rocky head, slightly off-white. Lovely aroma of fruity (passion fruit) and resinous hops. The flavour is again fruity and resinous hops throughout, notes of tropical fruits, with a sufficient malty backbone. Excellent beer, very enjoyable.

L- Deep amber, cloudy (sediment even well rested stirs up fast from bottle), 3mm white foam head receding with haste to a ring.
S- A clear mix of fruity notes from this.
T- Hoppy-dry on the front, then pungent fruit notes come in with some perfume and woody notes and into a well hopped bitter finish.
F- Dry to the extent it pretty well masks it's 6.5ABV%
O- This treads the line between beer vs a bitter mixed-fruit soda and it's really not working for me. I can finish it, but am disappointed in it.
Bought from Beerhawk/UK. 330ml bottle

Pours slightly hazy copper gold with a good head and some lacing. Nose is well rounded (or call it unfocused) with orange/citrus, tropical fruit, and pine. Good start so far. However, I found it a bit light on flavor. Mild biscuit, mild pine, mild citrus...not a lot there. Nice crisp mouthfeel. Overall, parts were very nice, but it just fell short on taste.

Brought from Kris Wines in North London. 500ml bottle with a 6.5abv. Pours a dark brown hazy colour with a beige head. Aromas of citrus, hops & spice. Tastes of citrus, orange, grapefruit, nuts, spice & malt leading to a lovely mixed fruity medium bitter finish with the alcohol well hidden.

500ml bottle. Fire and flame, eh? Burn me up, baby!

This beer pours a murky, medium golden amber hue, with three fat fingers of puffy, rocky, and chunky off-white head, which leaves some splattered and sudsy webbed lace around the glass as it slowly fades off the radar.

It smells of musty, almost dank pine resin, orange and grapefruit rind-heavy juice, gritty, grainy pale malt, a biscuity caramel sweetness, further pineapple core and kiwi flesh tropical fruitiness, and a soft earthy yeastiness. The taste is quite reflective of the aroma - biscuity, almost doughy caramel and pale malt, mildly astringent forest floor pine cone notes, mixed domestic and tropical fruit - orange, pineapple, generic melon, white grapefruit, and guava - spicy, earthy yeast, and a faint echo of metallic warming alcohol.

The bubbles are in a bit of a frenzy at first, but duly settle to a more even keel soon enough, the body a sturdy medium weight, and somewhat tight in its mostly unassailed smoothness. It finishes generally dry, the fruitiness from the hops switching gears, the malt tending towards the biscuity, and the yeast stepping in as a sort of lingering matchmaker.

A pretty tasty affair, overall, but I hedge when I call this a pleasurable IPA - it's really more of a pleasurable ESB, the malt bill's oh-so-English Maris Otter the likely happy culprit. At any rate, worthy of a go, no matter the pedantry of wonks like me - this is something I'd be thoroughly content putting back on draft, not knowing the exact ins and outs of its provenance.
