Bottled: 21NOV12 (13 months maturation)

Pours a murky brown, cherry hued ale with a scattered, weak map of light pink foam. Smells mostly of burnt plastic, then some oak, some acidity...If I just breath in with my mouth there is a hint of blueberries, some vanilla oakiness. Damn the nose is really like a brand new blow up intertube plastic. The flavor follows the same trend: freshly pressed intertube, plenty tart with some acetic tendencies, but not that tart. Medium on thin with hi carb and a thickly viscous finish (my saliva is making this). Not sure I'm going to finish the bottle.

A- Looks like there were fresh blueberries used in this, very deep dark purple/black/blue with minimal head, lacing

S- A prominent acidic vinegary note with some blueberry underneath, but not much. Nothing crazy

T-Just as one noted as the smell, some blueberry tannin, really not much going on

M- thin, not enough carbonation

O- Not that impressive, alcohol isn't apparent so it does have that going for it, but not much else. For the price point, I would've been better off just being a 375 of almost any belgian geuze for my sour fix

Pour is opaque ruby with a foamy tan head. Nose is strong blueberry, very fleshy and light note of sourness with a hint of earthiness. Body is light and soft, very smooth with assertive carbonation. Taste is blueberry forward with a fair amount of leather and brett presence, not much else but a nice drinker and fairly sour.

50cl brown glass bottle with black standard unbranded pressure cap acquired from a friend who brought it back from Copenhagen and served into a Guinness goblet glass in me parents’ gaff in high altitude Castle Rock, Colorado during my annual Christmas tasting. Reviewed live. Expectations are extremely high. 7.5% ABV confirmed. Reviewed as a wild ale because the label lays out that it's a sour brewed with lambic yeast and aged in oak."Brewed 23.08.11."

Served cold – straight from the fridge and allowed to warm over the course of consumption. Side-poured with standard vigor as no carbonation issues are anticipated.

A: No bubble show forms as it’s poured.

Pours a no head at all.

Body colour is a lightly translucent pale amber of average vibrance. No floating yeast particles are visible.

Overall, it’s an appealing appearance for the style. I’m looking forward to trying it.

Sm: Heavy brettanomyces funkiness and a bit of lactobacillus-induced sourness. Some wet hay/straw. Great lambicus yeast. I don't detect any blueberry. Very farmhouse. Leathery.

No alcohol or hop character is detectable.

T: Farmhouse. Wet straw/hay. I don't get any blueberry whatsoever. Some nice lambic-induced sourness. Pleasant lactic sourness.

Balanced and enjoyable. Lacks complexity, subtlety, nuanced, and intricate.

Mf: Smooth, wet, well carbonated, and approachable, with a good body and thickness. Nice presence on the palate.

Not astringent, oily, gushed, hot, boozy, or harsh.

Dr: Very drinkable; I could easily kill a bottle alone. I'd have it again. Pretty tasty stuff for what it is. Not as blueberry-dominant as I expected (actually; it has none at all). I really like it. Hides its ABV well.

From Leura. Bottled 11/12.

Appearance - mahogany with little head . Spotty lace.

Smell - tart, vinegar.

Taste - sour, tart, funk. Blueberries are well hidden, not really a fruit beer. Not much to write home about.

Mouthfeel - lightly carbonated

Overall - unsure on this, it does not fit to sour, nor fruit beer, and maybe Wild Ale is best. Nothing really stands out as taste, so that's a positive as well made beer. Also - at 7:50 it should / might pack 'more' flavour, but that also seems to be missing. I bought two, so one for the cellar for a year or more methinks....

Bottle pour at the pre-FWIBF bottle share held at the Adelaide Inn in Paso Robles, CA.

Brewed 8/23/11. Bottled 11/21/12.

Pours a murky reddish-brown with a foamy beige head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. No lacing on the drink down. Smell is sour with malt, berry, and acidic aromas. Taste is much the same with sour malt and berry flavors on the finish. There is a high amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty but very sour and acidic.

A - Very light, off white head, very dark ruby color to the body, quite opaque.

S - tart straight off the bat, very reminiscent to Flemish red sours. Almost medicinal smell to it. Cherry aroma, though it's a blueberry beer. Deep aroma, but not overwhelming... very nice.

T - Sweet upfront, that finishes tart... cherry skin notes. Not knock-you-back blueberry flavors, but much fruit flavor. Cherry sour lingers on the aftertastes but for the most part, a nice finish.

M - Medium bodied, I suppose... with a very light carbonation, lingers on the palate but nothing too heavy.

O - Review started a bit after the bottle was opened, so I might be a bit off with the carbonation. Very tasty beer but the overall flavor was more cherry than anything else... I would have this agaiN!

Uwa! A blueberry lambic! (not technically a lambic I know). When I saw this on the shelf I thought for a very quick moment it was the Cantillon, unfortunately it's this... but I've always wanted to try a decent blueberry sour.

A: Looks kind of like deep blueberry flesh actually, if you cut it a bit with a blonde beer. No head or lacing, but its definitely unique in appearance.

S: Blueberries do stand out right away (mostly because one is not accustomed to smelling that when nosing a beer). A bit of funk and grain. Other fruits as well. leafy.

Taste: Acidity at the front of the tounge, juicy blueberry middle and decent dry finish.

Mouthfeel: A bit thick and cloying. Low, natural carbonation but probably good enough for the style.

Overall: Quite tasty. At only $8 (Boston) I probably should have bought a couple more.
