Le Saint-Bock "Pénitente"
On tap at the brewpub, $5.25 Canadian/verre

Notes: Cloudy gold. Bright white head - short lived. Good lacing. Aroma is fruity and spicy (mainly coriander). Flavor follows. Juicy. Nice balance. Malt-fruit-spice (hint of cinnamon, ginger) balance on a pointy base of low bitterness. Medium-light & crisp. Refreshing, and also interesting. Slightly different than what you might normally expect - pints for that. Also, well-brewed.

Draft: Poured a very light amber color ale with a tiny head with no retention and no lacing. Aroma of light spices with not much else noticeable. Taste is also dominated by light spices notes with limited character. Body is way too thin for style with average carbonation. Extremely boring with limited character, not enough spices and thin body.

Cloudy golden body with a decent sized white head and some lacing. Good and true to style. Grainy, slightly fruity nose with hints of coriander. Good crisp grain body, again the coriander peaks through along with citrus and ginger. Body and carbonation is medium. A nice effort.
