Notes / Commercial Description:
Peach Grand Cru is Great Divide’s newest limited offering. Brewed with Colorado fruit picked right at the peak of ripeness, this Belgian-style ale marries two of our home state’s well-known offerings: great beer and fresh Palisade peaches. Both sophisticated and balanced, this extraordinary, aromatic ale was born to be savored beyond the orchard.

Smells just like peaches but the taste is not over powering of peaches. Very good beer.

750 ml bottle, wine glass

A – Medium amber with tons of effervescence, very clear. Bright white foam head of about a half-inch, with moderate retention.

S – Golden biscuit and sweet caramel, very light toffee and a touch of agave syrup. Peach comes across as nectary versus juicy or candy. Some spicy, herbal hop aromas are in the mix.

T – Similar to the aroma. Biscuity sweet malt, deeper notes of caramel, and the impression of unsweetened peach syrup. Slightly spicy notes in the background.

M – Very full-bodied, somewhat thick and viscous, which gives some impression of malt sweetness even though it is only moderately sweet. Slight spice and bitterness help with balance, as does the moderate, sudsy carbonation.

O – I really enjoy the authentic peach flavoring, but find it a bit thick. Perhaps additional carbonation/attenuation would provide more balance. Still very good.

Seemed flat for a Grand Cru but not too alcoholic.

Pretty disappointed.....barely any Peach, a hint on the tongue upfront. Unplesent astringent aftertaste. Drier finish than I expected for the style. Based on the ratings other people must like it but this was a complete miss for me. Glad I only had a sample if I had paid for a bomber id be upset. The only positive thing I can really say about it is the look and smell are amazing. The smell teased me and the taste did not deliver.

I enjoyed this on tap at Federal Taphouse, served chilled in a snifter.

The color is a dark golden shade with amber highlights and thin white head with fine bead that leaves streamers of lace that cling in rings. The smell is like ambrosia-tropical with peach scent and juicy quality with slight yeast ester and fragrant floral accent. The smell has an almost Hawaiian Punch (c) type juicy fruit aroma! The feel is semi-juicy/tangy with lightly sweet malt in the front with spiciness in yeast and light tangy and juicy contrast with mild spicy middle and moderately carbonated with mildly alcoholic finish.

The taste is very good in an almost champagne-like mix of vinous and yet peach quality with effervescent push adding emphasis to the acidity with a juicy tangy flavor and tropcial sweetness enters in the middle with a light stone fruit flavor and gently vinous element continuing with a semi-dry peach skin taste combined with alcohol in the finish. Overall this is a great Belgian with sufficient amount of peach to boost the alcohol and adds some flavor -the yeast has a nice Belgian quality with slight spice to offset some of the sweetness-I would like to try this in the bottle.
