Brewed by:
Great Divide Brewing Company
Colorado, United States | website

Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Lasso Session IPA.

LASSO is the new frontier of India Pale Ale. Brewed with a robust roundup of Columbus, Centennial and Cascade hops, its sessionable simplicity proves bigger isn’t always better. But make no mistake – the Wild West hasn’t gone mild. That same untamed IPA spirit thrives, and we reckon this’ll go down mighty fine.

Poured from 12oz bottle into a dimpled mug.

Appearance: medium orange with a light to moderate haze and a few floaties. Head is a thin finger of frothy ivory foam. Not too bad.

Smell: sweetish, caramelly malt with a lightly citrusy, lightly earthy hop character. Pretty decent.

Taste: the malt is breadier than in the aroma, and is backed by light but nicely citrusy hops. I kind of like it.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: this beer is a bit mild but I like it; it's definitely a super drinkable brew.

A. Slightly aggressive poor 1 ¼ inch white head that dissipated to a ½ inch throughout the entire glass. I love the suds of this beer. Little to no carbonation after it is poured, it must be up at the top of the glass with its friends.
S. Hops, citrus, lemon, little caramel.
T. Big flavor very hoppy for only 5% ABV. Taste is not as complex as it smells. Taste very little alcohol.
M. Dry like most IPA’s but not to the point of cottonmouth.
O. Finished with the glass laced with foam and the bottom of the glass still had form. Have I mentioned that I love the suds? This IPA is pretty good. I would recommend to beginner IPA drinkers. Average buzz for 5% ABV.

12 oz bottle. Pours slightly hazy copper amber with a medium frothy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet bready malts, some fruit and grassy hops.

The flavor is sweet bready caramel malts with a lot of grassy hop bitterness and a little fruit. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with slightly sharp carbonation.

Overall, an ok IPA. Don't care for the flavors - bready caramel malts with lots of grassy hops.

12 ounce bottle

Pours typical almond amber, under a light khaki head. leaves moderate fine lace.

Hops on the nose, grainy and some pine.

Moderate hop punch, again with notes of pine and resin

Medium bodied and carbonation on point.

Respectable, but not outstanding IPA

Faint pine and light biscuit nose. Pours gold with a slight haze with a 1” yellow tinted foam cap that produces light lace. Has a light fruit palate over grain that leads to a citrusy, resiny hop finish. Effervescent, medium light body, fairly dry.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tall pint glass. Bottled on December 18th, 2013.

Appearance: Pours a bright and clear golden orange with a moderate amount of bubbles. About two fingers of white head which slowly fade into a thin creamy layer. Leaves a good amount of lacing.

Smell: An earthy and grassy hoppy aroma with good hints of grass, pine, and caramel malt. Earthy, floral, and herbal hops with upfront hints of wet grass and spicy pine resin. Citrus hop presence with hints of orange peel, grapefruit, lemon, tangerine, and pineapple. Bready malt backing with hints of caramel, biscuit, grains, cracker, and yeast. A solid earthy aroma.

Taste: Like it smells, an earthy and crisp hoppy taste with good notes of grass, pine, and caramel malt. Upfront taste of earthy hops with floral notes. Notes of damp grass and pine resin spice. Citrus hop notes of grapefruit, orange peel, lemon zest, pineapple, and tangerine. Backing presence of pale malt with notes of biscuit, sweet caramel, grains, yeast, and cracker. A pretty solid earthy IPA taste.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Juicy and somewhat oily feel. Finishes dry and smooth.

Overall: A solid East Coast style take on an IPA. Very grassy with a solid malt backing.

Nothing amazing but still a good choice for a sessionable canned ipa. A bit more malt forward than I typically want my ipa's to be but it's still pretty good.

From a 12oz bottle

Unusual IPA in that the aroma is light and about as malty as it is hoppy, yet the flavor is quite hop dominated. Lingering bitter and hoppy aftertaste.
