For me, this is the OG! Had my first taste of this many years ago and I always come back to it. This beer is paired perfectly with a long, July mountain bike ride in the desert, or an eight hour day of shoeing colts in February. There are many great IPA's out there, especially in Colorado, but this is as good as it gets.

although new to the site, i have been consuming beer long enough to not consider myself a novice. up to this point, i've resisted the urge to review other beers, focusing more on one truly deserving such recognition. titan IPA is that beer.

forget the technical jargon e.g., smell, appearance, taste, etc. this craft brew blends all harmoniously into what is quite simply put, the beginning and end of IPAs. as a self-proclaimed hop head, i implore anyone seeking perfection to obtain this beer now.

the gods themselves must have bowed in envy to the divine body that created the essence of india pale ale.

Enough said: I'm not an savy savant or a frequent reviewer, but I've been trying IPAs for years and this is still my favorite. Great Divide has lots of good beer and I go there every time I visit my Bro in Denver! Top 5 = Titan, Stone Ruin, 2 Hearted, Green Flash and Lagunitas.

A- pours a deep gold with a 2 finger foamy laced up head.

S- very piney hopped with slight malty background. some citrus.

T- my first sip reminds me of D.F.H. 60 min IPA, yet better...not as much citrus notes. very piney, grassy hop bitter.

M- nicely carbonated creamy feel to it.

D- best AIPA in my book. At 6.8% i drink em slow

Notes: this beer is awesome, I always go back to it. It's my favorite IPA. Great Divide clearly knows what's going on. If you like this...TRY THE HERCULES DOUBLE IPA!!! It's the bomb too

An impeccable brew that goes beyond IPA greatness. Full Bodied, hoppy brew that has a sweet initial taste of citrus, pine, and a slight flavor of grapefruit taste. Extremely drinkable and worth every sip in regards to value. This is my 1st time purchasing a case and third time drinking out of a bottle and I rank this in my top 5 of American IPA's due to it's unbelievable attention to quality, crispness, and flavor that ranks up with Victory Hop Devil and Bell's Two Hearted Ale. Really interested in the Hercules Double IPA and wish I could have the opportunity to try it on tap.

Had sampled Great Divide products on my last trip out West but hadn't seen them in many Boston area locales. Was pleasantly surprised to find it two nights in a row at local area watering holes.

I've always been a fan of IPAs but have been tiring of some of the locals (Harpoon, Smuttynose) so I was excited to try something new. Had a couple of the Titan IPAs and I found that the taste kept growing on me with each sip. Great looking beer and had a great hoppy bite to it that is the IPA trademark. Finished smooth for an IPA and left a great aftertaste. Will definitely keep an eye out for other Great Divide products in the Boston area.

Appearance - gold in color. Smell - fruity and hoppy. Combined with the mountain air and The View House is amazing. Great. Taste - follows the nose. Smooth on the back end yet a slight hop bite. Overall - would get again and I'm glad I had it in CO.

WOWWW. I found two year old sixer of this beer for $3.00 each at Spec's down here in Beaumont, TX. That's essentially 50 cents for what is one of the best IPA's I've ever tried. Talk about aging well.

Chilled quickly in the freezer to get the bottle cold through and through. Poured into a pint glass, upon popping the cap I see a ton of carbonation escape in gas form. I just knew it had aged well. The pour left a big fluffy pillowy head which then made all sorts of crazy patterns as I took my first sips, even looking like a brain at times.

Smell is a cascade of delicious hops, with a caramel malty background keeping everything in check. Pretty dank, I've smelled louder beers (lol) but that's about the only knock I have.

This beer DELIVERS on the taste. Aged over a year (Oct 2015) did nothing but wonders. The smell represents the taste as a whole, but doesn't do the wonderfully hoppy, balanced beer justice. That same caramel comes in ever so invitingly with a clean wash down that leaves me refreshed and convinced that this is one of the best beers let alone IPA's I've ever tried.

The golden honey yellow tinge says it all. Nectar for the Gods. A Titan amongst beers. Thank you, Great Divide!!

12 Oz bottle poured into a pint glass.
Bottled Feb 29, 2012

A- Dark golden/orange with a very sparse white head. My pour was probably not aggressive enough, or my glass not clean enough.

S- Smells fabulous. Piney and sharp, but floral and not too resiny. It's not smelly, it's beautifully fragrant.

T- Floral and malty up front, a little bit of sweetness slides back on the tongue along with a firm, but balanced bitterness as the beer slides back on the tongue. Finishes dry, not bone dry, but very nice. Really drinkable. This is an incredibly well-balanced IPA. YUM!

M- Full mouthfeel, nice carbonation.

O- This has totally knocked my socks off. I'm usually afraid to try IPAs because I so often find them to be way out of balance and just unpleasant. But the maltiness here and the gentle sweetness provide all the support that the bitterness needs, and the floral, slightly piney character of the hops plays well with everyone. This is the best IPA I have ever drank in my life. The only thing that comes close is the Deuchar's I had in Edinburgh, and that may be because I was feeling rather sentimental at the time.

Buy this beer. Buy ME this beer.

Presentation - poured the ale from a 12oz. brown bottle with a kelly green colored label -reminds me of the alluring natural colour of fresh hops.

A - A brilliant honey/amber that creates a massive off white head with a pleasing display of cascading malt. Lace is left abundantly clinging to the sides of the glass.

S - A mix of citrus and fragrant pine are transmitted from the fluffy head of this aromatic nectar. Ruby red grapefruit and orange zest come to mind. A host of fresh hoppy wholesomeness does not cease to delight. Pineapple-like odors add a positively tropical twist as they arrive in my nostrils.

M - Soft, sweet tanginess is the initial texture with juicy tart citrus and prickly pineapple morphing into bitter salty attributes. Later on the spicy footnote adds intrigue to the layered effect.

T - A sweet honey like taste is the initial flavor eruption. A jumping delivery of citrus is delivered next in a fruity spectrum of lively and mellow. Grapefruit mixes with the essence of blood orange and pineapple piquancy to give a blessed awakening of hop heaven. An underscore of pine and effervescent maltiness comes through in waves. A flavor full of nature's sweet bounty ripples across my taste buds longer after each full sip is swallowed.

D - An awesome IPA in every sense even for a (non) hop head. Fragrant, drinkable, sweet, but not overdone in the bitterness or Abv departments. Well made through and through - I would love to have a taste of this on any occasion. I will seek it out and stock my fridge- Truly great and worth every last ounce.

Flat out one of the best IPA's I've had. Color is a beautiful copper, with a thick head and very impressive lacing. Smell is right on for the style, citrus is the overpowering smell as you'd expect. Not exactly grapefruity, but citrus jumps out at you. Taste is fantastic -- nothing dominates and the overall mix of hops, bitters and alcohol is amazing. Drinkability is excellent, no surprise for a <7% beer, but putting back 5-6 of these over the course of a night is not difficult. Not overly filling, just right. There are a couple double IPA's that I like more, but this is #1 for me in the IPA style.

12-oz brown bottle with bottled notches for 3rd week of February

Pours a beautiful clear orange-amber with two-finger off-white head leaving lovely rings of lace with each sip.

Grapefruit, floral and pine-y hops with hints of malt--luscious, juicy fragrance.

Waves of hop flavor: piney and pithy bitterness and juicy citric hops overwhelm the tongue. This is followed by some sweetness and fruity middle, but this plays definite second fiddle to the heavy hop and bitter. Wonderfully overbalanced with hops without pitching forward due to the fruity esters and malt. Finishes with plenty of hops, bitterness and a faint sweetness.

Medium thick mouth feel with enough carbonation to keep from overly coating the tongue.

I can and have drunk this from afternoon to the wee hours. My "go to" IPA. I love this stuff.

Despite it being very bold, complex and hoppy, this IPA is also very well balanced and is easy to drink. The aroma is all hops and a subtle amount of citrus.

One of the best IPAs I have come across. It has a great smell and an amazing taste of hops and a strong malt background.

Huge fan of Great Divide beers. This one may actually be the most complete and balanced beer I have had from them.

12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass

A- This is one of those brews that once it is poured, you know its going to be a good one. Titan IPA poured a thick orange/brown mix color. Big off white head and a ton o' lacing. Wow, truly glowing a beautiful i9n the glass. A pretty sight indeed.

S- The nose was almost entirely malt on this one. Thick sweet candy like caramel aroma emintating from the glass.

T- That malty taste shows up again with some toasted bready flavors. Big citrus/pine/hop taste- perfect blance.

M- Thick and chewy for an IPA - buttery and delightful.

D- One of the best IPA's I have ever had, if not the best. This should be a staple in any beer lovers fridge.

World Class.

Wow. A lovely amber ale with a half finger head, that died down to a thin film of foam with lacing all over the glass.

Aroma was very strongly of pine hops... but there was a nice dollop of caramel along with a medium malt backbone, and a little bit of fruitiness. Well balanced.

Taste was like being hit between the eyes with a hop hammer. Incredibly powerful. Mostly pine bittering hops, but with rich medium malts underneath, and a hint of apples. The counterpoint between hops and malt was perfect.

Mouthfeel was outstanding. Not too astringent, not too carbonated, the hops were supported by the maltiness and filled the mouth with flavor.

I will definitely revisit this one. This is now my #1 American IPA.

A- Smooth looking, lovely translucent orange colour. Light amount of head.

S- VERY strong aromas of pine, and juniper. The strong hops are extremely evident. The bitterness punches the nose begging to be consumed.

T- Great pine taste! Nice and dry. Spectacular balance of the hops with other flavours. The hops carry a good bite, but it's not overpowering to the other tastes in the brew.

M- Fantastic! Light, and in no real way overbearing. It sits nicely on the palate and leaves a pinch of hops on the tongue.

D- Highly drinkable. If I had more, i would with out a doubt be having more of his great beer.

Wow. I didn't really expect this beer to be THIS good. One of the best beers I've EVER had.

Appearance: Pours golden amber colored with an off white lasting head. Laces nicely as you drink it.

Smell: Smells of Citrus hops. Wonderful aroma.

Taste: Sweet malts are balanced with citrusy hops with an apricot flavor. Fantastic beer. I really would like to know the hop schedule so I can replicate it

Mouthfeel: Silky smoooth, medium mouthfeel.

Drinkability: I was really taken aback on the exceptional flavor of this beer. I have tried their fresh hop pale ale (A great beer in its own) but this one was just fantastic. I really can't stop raving about this beer. Great divide makes some excellent brews!

A- pours a bright clear burnt orange. One finger head that dissipates. Good amount of carbonation coming off the bottom. Lacing is very pretty, sticking all the way down the glass.

S- slight pine, a lot of tropical fruit, peach aromas.Very pleasant.

T- quick pine bitterness, and tropical fruit followed by a good, sweet malt backbone. Extremely well balanced.

M- medium mouthfeel. It coats the tongue nicely. Not as much carbonation as the appearance would let on.

O- this is an excellent IPA. One of the best balanced IPAs I've have. It's very drinkable and highly flavorful without overdoing the hop bitterness. Tastes great on a hot Texas day. It surprisingly refreshing.

Buy again.

Pours copper with the faintest haze, white head and slight lace.

Flowery pine resin with nice citrus overtones. Wow, alot of hops in this one.

Huge grapefruit citrus flavors backs off into a subtle pine resin. Ends with a sharp, bitterness that stays with you for a long time. Very refreshing.

Smooth and rounded, this is a very refreshing, flavorful IPA. Very nice.

Love this beer. First sip was absolutely incredible. After a couple you start to realize the serious alcohol content.

Big fan of IPAs and this one hit the nail on the head.

Picked this up locally at the Rapid Run Carry Out (Delhi area, Cincinnati).

Definitely recommended.

appearance: pours a see-through amber into a goblet.

smell: mmm, piney hops invade the nose.

taste: hops hit the tongue with a satisfying goodness. a slight malt attempts to balance this brew, but is overshadowed by the hops.

mouthfeel: slightly carbonated and goes down smooth (if you are a hophead).

drinkability: for me this beer is extremely drinkable. i could have a few because i love the aromatics and taste. the 6.8 would keep me from getting knee deep in a 6er at a bar. this is one of my favorite ipas.

Poured a nice clear copper color with a decent head and medium carbonation from a 12 oz bottle with ABV and 'date of bottling' on the label. Aroma is predominantly hoppy with hints of sweetness, fruity esters and malts. Outstanding taste, a perfect blend of hops and malts, exquisite on the palate. This is IMHO one of the best IPA's around. The taste gets better as the beer warms up, with the oily pine flavor gelling perfectly with the sweet and malty aftertaste. Very good lacing along the walls of my glass. This is a perfectly balanced IPA and one has to indulge carefully, because this is definitely a highly drinkable beer. To reiterate, Titan IPA is hands down one of the best beers from Great Divide and truly a very delicious and fulfilling IPA. Highly, highly recommended.

Wow, one of the better IPA's I've had in a while!

Had a very nice orange-coppery color, with a nice off white creamy head.

Fruity overtones most definately hide the bitterness of an IPA, but does not completely mask it. Making for a very hormonious taste on the palate.

Again the taste components also mask the alcohol taste, also not too much carbonation, which was nice.

Most definately scary, because its so smooothe and delicious you could most definately kill a sixer rather quickly.

Way to go Great Divide, you have most definately made me a believer, looking forward to trying out the rest of your brews as I can find them in NJ. Also very cool labeling and the food pairing on the side of the bottle absolutely comes in handy!
