12oz bottle poured into a New Belgium globe. Freshness date of Nov. 26 puts means this beer is about a month and a half old.

A: Pours a beautiful golden-orange color with excellent clarity. The creamy off-white head doesn't retain as well as it should, but some swirling of the glass will revive it briefly. Lacing forms thin, broken, jagged rings and some small spots.

S: Juicy melon, melon rind. Honeydew melon. Passion fruit and strawberry. Dank, herbal edge and a general pithy scent. Fresh lawn clippings. Oily. Tropical esters are apparent but not too forceful. Mandarin orange. Sweet, doughy malt base. There's more complexity than one usually encounters in the style, but it doesn't quite pop as much as I remember.

T: Lots of honeydew melon, possibly some watermelon, passion fruit, mandarin orange. Bitterness is only moderate, though it builds and sharpens a little. Garden herbs on the mid-palate. Grass clippings and some dank hop tastes. Hemp seed and white grapefruit pith. Very slight touch of peppery alcohol and some tropical esters. Fleeting taste of fresh strawberries. Sweet doughy malt base and a very subtle toasted grain flavor. Sweet overall though it does start to dry into the finish. Oily and herbal hop finish leaves a fair amount of earthy bitterness on the palate.

M: Medium bodied. A little weighty in the mouth, but very creamy and well-rounded. Modest carbonation. Smooth. Slight gritty, enamel raking feel. Could possibly use a touch more carbonation for that added crispness, but as it stands this is still a very good mouthfeel.

O: Titan sacrifices the straightforward, bitter hop onslaught in favor of a more flavorful and nuanced approach. There is a lot more complexity to this beer than most within the IPA style. It also finds a way to remain quaffable despite the 7.1% abv and noticeable alcohol contribution. It seems to have lost a step now that the IPA category has become perhaps the most competitive beer style, but it's still better than most. Still a must-drink.
