Notes / Commercial Description:
An onslaught of the senses. It starts with big, roasty malt flavor that gives way to rich caramel and toffee notes. YETI gets its bold hop character from an enormous quantity of American hops.

Bottled July 30, 2012 Poured from a bomber into a Redhook Limited Release glass.

Appearance- Beautiful pitch black with little to no caramel head. Little lacing.

Smell- Chocolate roasted malts, bitter coffee, some hop presence, caramel. Very nice aromas.

Taste- Initial hop bitterness goes to roasted malts and finishes with chocolate at the back of my tongue. Nice bitter aftertaste (it is 75 ibu). Very well balanced. 9.5ABV is completely masked.

Mouthfeel- Nicely carbonated. very smooth, but I'd like it to be a little more viscous.

Overall- Awesome RIS. Very well balanced and smooth. I will be sure to have this again.

Served in a chalice.

After opening the bottle, a wafting aroma from the neck of the bottle: plum, raisins- rich and complex.

The beer poured a beautiful deep jet black color with an attractive 1 finger head, with a dark coffee-plum aroma.

The mouth feel was pleasantly carbonated.

The finish was an intense coffee-chocolate with a hint of lemon. As the beer warmed, the chocolate was more prominent.

The taste is unusual- and distinct for an Imperial Stout: very balanced. Other imperials have similar taste characteristics, but the Yeti has more balanced flavors.

A winner! Serve warm at about 55F.
