12 Oz bottle poured into a snifter
Dated10/23/11 (7 months)

A- Super hazy dark brown with a half finger off white head. Pretty nice looking alcohol legs.

S- Caramel, toffee and a little dark fruit like raisins. Some roasted malts but its mostly sweet caramel.

T- A ton of caramel in this one, some roasted malts. A bit of a fig flavor but not much really. A dry and light fruit yeasty aftertaste.

M- Very chewy, this beer has a big mouth feel. Perfect carbonation, lingering sticky mouth feel. slightly warming.

O- This is textbook example of an old ale in my opinion, I got a couple more im going to let pick up some age and I would love to get my greasy mittens around a barrel aged version.

pours an opaque, slightly ruddy chestnut tone with maybe a finger of tan-colored head; some lacing, though nothing to write home about.

big sweet, malty nose... caramel, some roastiness... also picking up a subdued nutty characteristic. aroma largely pulls through in the taste. nuttiness is more pronounced, and i get a big dose of roasted and bready malts along with the suggestion of dark fruitiness. some bitter hoppiness in the finish. pretty tasty. nice wintry beer.

smooth, medium-plus bodied mouthfeel. overall a solid if unspectacular brew, probably not something i'd spend a lot of time with at a sitting.

12oz bottle (bottled 10/6/2011) into a snifter. Pours a deep amber w/ a thick beige head, decent retention, webs of lace & moderate carb.

Aroma is heavily malty - toffee, caramel, dark fruit.

Taste follows same malty profile, balanced by plentiful hops. Fruity, caramelly, smoky.

Mouthfeel is a little sticky, lingering - about what you'd expect for the style.

Overall a good old ale, but not the best. Still worth a try.

A - pours a deep ruby amber color with some brownish highlights. Small light tan head which quickly dissipates.

S - the nose is pleasantly boozey with strong malt notes. The malt profile is rich with notes of molasses, bees wax, carmel, milk chocolate and cereal. The alcohol note blends with fruit esters to create a note of fruit punch.

T - bright alcohol and fruit character dance along the tongue from the start along with notes of peppery spice, honey, and chocolate grace the palate as well. Quick dry finish.

M - smooth. Very smooth. Medium bodied verging on full with a bubly blast of carbonation.

O - a great and very uqniue ale. Put some aside as this is a prime canadate for aging.
