HERCULES DOUBLE IPA is not for the faint of heart. It is, however, fit for the gods. HERCULES delivers a huge amount of hops from start to finish. Its hefty backbone of nutty, malty sweetness balances its aggressive hop profile. 85 IBUs.

I got this bottle at the Santa Barbara Whole Foods while on a Hop tour of California. Being from Newfoundland (and now Ontario) I'm a little hop-deprived, so I was looking for the best of California/Near IIPA's and the like.

A - A super nice orange colour with hints of copper and a nice lacy head. The head didn't come out much when I poured it at all, but it was still nice.

S - Hops! Pine, resin, some citrus. Really super hoppy.

T - Some sweat citrus, then some malt character, and then pine and bitterness. Some alcohol warmth, though less than the expected from the percentage, which makes this sneaky!

M - Really nice. Somewhat creamy. It foams nicely and is relatively soft, which is unexpected and really pleasant.

O - I've been looking for something with that nice round hop taste, and this is the ideal one for that! Great hops, it really hits the spot!

This is a really (emphasis on REALLY) nice IPA. Citrusy, refreshing and very, very drinkable. I purchased only one bottle of this just to sample it and was surprised by how good it was. I will probably go and buy a few more bottles today! Anyway, really nice, tasting notes follow:
A: Coppery, rusty amber with a lite carb head
S: Citrus, big big hops!!
T: Really smooth for a big IPA, very very nice!
M: Again, smooth and sweet
O: Nothing bad to say about this brew; a really nice IPA. If you have not tried it, it should be on your list as one of the ones to taste!!!

Great Divide has some really good brews and this is a nice example of one of their really good beers...
