Pours from the tap at Nørrebro Bryghus in Copenhagen a deep rich black with a solid 3 finger toffee colored head. Head settles into a thick bubbling cap with high lacing.
Very nice aroma, but not incredibly strong. A nice balance of fruit, vanilla, wood, coffee chocolate and bitter malt. Aroma begins with subtle dried fruits of raisin and dates followed by a slight vanilla aroma, which leads to chocolate an d finishes dry and burnt bitter. Complex and comforting with warm alcohol notes wrapping it all up nicely.
Flavor is slightly more abrupt than the smoothness of the aroma. More bitter, hopping, burnt and coffee notes prevail in the rich and strong flavors. Starts out slightly sweet and moves to a deep malty burnt middle followed by bitterness and coffee notes and cleans out with alcohol warmth. Finishes quite clean.
Medium to big bodied with decent carbonation and warming alcohol feel. Drinkable for the strength.

For me this is a great change of pace beer. I drink mostly light beers but I need a change up after 3 or 4 light beers, one of these stouts is a perfect change. Then back to a few light beers. I love the flavor and everything else about this beer. I know this isn’t the proper wine snob way to rate a beer, I just can’t do that.

On tap at Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. Pitch black colour, low brown head. Lovely aroma of oak, roasted malts, dark chocolate and coffee, hints of leather. Roasty flavour, dark malts, coffee, oak, hints of chocolate and liquorice. Nice bitterness in the finish.
