A - Motor oil black. 1 inch creamy brown head that held for around a minute. Very thick and viscous with tiny carbonation bubbles.

S - Lots of chocolate, vanilla, coffee, with some booze. Smell started to fade a bit after a couple of minutes.

T - Woody and chocolaty. Sweet with a strong booziness. Bitter aftertaste.

M - Very thick and leaves a silky residue.

O - Strong smell, strong flavors. Thick and heavy. Really into this one.

A - Dark black opaque body, brown highlights, ghost of tan head, mild lacing.

S - Booze and oak, chocolate, coffee, a bit of dark fruit.

T - Follows the nose with chocolate and oak, a bit of coffee, mild bitter acidic close.

M - Bright, prickly, slick and a bit of drying in the close.

O - Exactly what you would hope, rich, full, warm. Another rock solid version of Yeti.

Now THIS is an imperial stout; challenging Rasputin for my favorite, and for me, WAY better than the Yeti oatmeal stout.

Smell and taste of espresso is strong, and great. You feel, but you can't taste the high ABV. Loved it. Poured from a glass, bottle labeled over 6 months ago. Closest to perfect taste that I have found.

Appearance - Obsidian, Black, tight lacing, above average carbonation, high head retention
Smell - Very rich, oaky, chocolate, molasses slight sweetness. Smells blend well
Taste - Oaky, chocolate notes, sweet, slightly malt (chocolate malt)
Mouth feel - Smooth, very complex, sweetness is very apparent
Overall - well balanced stout, oak flavour is very predominant. delicate chocolate notes and molasses flavours dominate the nose as it fades into a sweetness. Very nice stout.

Pours black as the void.
Head is dark brown, thin
The nose is sweet, I got deep roasted malts, vanilla, hops and amazingly the oak is actually there in the nose too
Mouthfeel is so thick and chewy, sweet dried dark fruit, like dark chocolate covered dried figs or dried cherries or plums.

There are absolutely no hints that this is a beer with 9.5% ABV.
So be careful enjoying this bomber in one sitting!
Delicious , dark, thickness, enjoyed as dessert after a meal.

This looked great coming out of the bottle, looked like oil. Big brown head, great lacing and a nice film.
Aroma, burnt, stale coffee, heavily roasted malt and some vanilla.
Flavor matches the aroma, hints of some dark fruit are there.
Thick and chewy is all I can come with. Quite smooth considering the massive head. This drinks easily considering the ABV.
One of the really great brews. Try it.

Obsidian black with a massive, dense, mesmerizingly dark mocha head.

Simply put, off the bat this smells and tastes like a chocolate milkshake, with a finish of chocolate malted milk balls. That is only at a glancing, impatient first pass.

To delve into this more, smell develops a cedar-like oak, with fresh, aromatic and perfumey pine. My god, here I am again with another version of Yeti stating how it has such a cozy, comforting woodiness to it. Chocolate and hint of vanilla follow, then super reduced maple, to the extreme, combined with the oak to bring in a sort of peppered bacon smell.

I taste that freshly dry, nearing cedar, oak flavor, which is just so divine to be absolutely absent of bourbon. I then get rich roasted chocolate malt and a surprising abundance of piney hops. Surprising because I enjoy it, and it doesn't turn me off at all.

The feel starts with a sharp tang, and a moderate to surprisingly thin body at times. Nice and crisp with a swish, a little fizz, finishing semi-dry.

Im a sucker for a good oak aged stout. This one does not disappoint! Expensive as all hell but worth it for a seasonal treat on a cold winter day. Very well done!

Poured dark brown. About a finger of light brown head. Black in the glass with a good amount of carbonation.

Coffee and sweet chocolate on the nose. Subdued possibility bc it is straight out of the fridge. A fair amount of dark fruit malty sweetness on the back end..

Roast bomb.. nice bitter coffee and dark chocolate. Dark fruit is.present along with mild oak on the finish. . Sweet lingering aftertaste.

Full mouthfeel with a nice coating.

Overall outstanding beer

Bottled Sept 2014. Pours a pitch black color with a finger width brown foamy head. Retention is mild. Lacing is good. Big chocolate notes on aroma with some mild vanilla. Dark roasted malts. Chocolate roasted taste. There is mild java but mainly chocolate. Heavy bodied with mild carbonation. Very good beer.

Bottle dated Sep 2014.
Poured jet black. Nice thick tan head.
Char and chocolate with oak on the nose.
Big and chewy. Burnt malts and chocolate and coffee notes dominate the taste. Some fruit notes as well (black cherry). Substantial bitterness but not over powering.
Bitter chocolate lingers in the after taste.
Overall a very delicious beer in this style. Possibly a little to smoky/char for my regular liking but pretty darn good.

GLASSWARE: Duvel tulip... bought to celebrate the Yeti Recognition Week... black, intimidating body with a three-finger stack of creamy, thick brown head... creates high arches that sit atop columns... thick cocoa wafts through the nostrils, with vanilla and thick dough malts, and espresso bean--the coffee mystique is palpable... as promising as the aroma portends, the bliss is in the sipping--thick, warming and full-bodied dessertif... long, lingering aftertaste that maintains its chocolate essence... cocoa, chocolate, vanilla, sweet and toasted malts, and more chocolate--the cayenne puts the heat in this powerful, empowering bottle.... at 1 pint 6 oz., enough of a return akin to a bourbon... a massive stand-alone that is worth its price point...

Pours jet black on a fairly strong pour. Thick mocha head, sticks around a good while leaving a fair bit of lacing behind.

Lots of roasted malt straight off of coffee, chocolate, though the oak-imparted vanilla as noted on the bottle does provide a counter balance to the sweetness of the malt. I also get some earthy notes from the hops.

The roasted malts are subdued by notes given by the oak barrels, and the aftertaste is a very nice melding of the two. Vanilla is present especially at the start, along with a slight yet noticeable charred flavor. Warmth reveals a nice hoppy bitterness that adds to the earth provided by the oak.

Full body, very creamy, but not excessively thick feel to it. Quite delightful in the balance it strikes by not becoming like molasses, but still giving that creaminess.

The oak and hops work together to provide a really nice earthiness that I think is the star here, but the roasted malt sweetness is present enough that it's not a one note beer. There's a lot of complexity to this one, more than what initially meets the tongue, and its worth taking some time to get to know it.

The beer is pitch black and the foamy head is a dark brown; it looked like chocolate. I get a nice smell of chocolate, dark fruits, vanilla, and coffee. There is a nice earthy/woodsy aroma as well. The taste begins with a nice sweetness of vanilla and chocolate and then a bitterness of the roasted malts, the oak, as well as an overall burnt flavor comes through. The beer has a nice drying affect from the bitterness and alcohol, it coat your mouth and has good carbonation.

A: Pours a pitch black color with 2 fingers of head that fades down to a small cap that leaves some good lacing

S: Roasted malts, oak, dark fruits, and anise lead the charge. Some dark chocolate and light alcohol in there as well

T: Follows the nose. Roasted malts and oak start things off, quickly followed by the anise and dark fruits. Bitterness rolls in with the dark chocolate. Finishes with lingering roast, oak, and anise

M: Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation

O: The oak chips add a nice dimension to the already great base stout. The oak rounds out the bitterness slightly and just gives it another edge. A great sipper as always

Bomber poured into tulip. Pours used motor-oil black with a milk chocolate head that sticks around. Scents are of vanilla, roast malt and chocolate. Taste is nice with lots of vanilla and chocolate, fairly sweet, but not overly. Mouth is just about right for a big stout. I tend to prefer a less viscous stout, and this fits that bill. Overall, this is a very nice 'oak-aged' imperial stout.

A - Pours black with a thick foamy tan head
S - The aroma is vanilla, dark chocolate and oak.
T - Flavor is vanilla, a bit of sweetness, some woodiness and bitterness on finish.
M - Above average mouth feel and below average carbonation.
O - I found this to be a very good stout but not special.

What a delight! Like many stouts, n espresso stouts in particular, this one gets better as is warms. The oak and espresso hits you like a jackhammer up front. Nice vanilla undertones balance things out. Great stout. Buy it. It's awesome.

It looks as good as the Oatmeal Yeti I opened yesterday. Inch-and-a-half of brown foam slowly settles and lightens in color, leaving behind plenty of lacing, with great head retention. It looks rich and creamy.
It smells a bit less sweet and chocolatey than the Oatmeal Yeti but has a similar roasted grain and hop profile.
There's chocolate and coffee in the flavor with a subtle sweetness that ends with sharp, bitter note. There is some smokey charred oak is in the mix as well.
Feel is good. Dense and creamy.
It's a good stout, but you have to appreciate (or be in the mood for) a strong, bitter note. Personally, I would take the Oatmeal Yeti over this one every time.

Black in color and impenetrable to light. There's a half inch of tightly knit creamy brown head resting on top. Heavy lacing. Aroma is a blend of dark bitter roasted barley that has been smoothed out a bit by the woodsy oak notes. I taste a nice balance of bitter dark roasted barley, earthy oak, plum, alcohol, and piney hops. The mouth is chewy, viscous, and lightly oily.

~7 months since bottling date

Appearance- Pours a black color, opaque, oily consistency. Half finger thick, dark khaki colored head, creamy thick. Lots of sticky alcohol legs and spotty head lacing.

Aroma- Roasted malt, burnt char, bitter dark chocolates. Lots of dry oak, dry astringency, earthy hops. Smoky undertones with a subtle vanilla and caramel sweetness.

Taste- Dry oak, charred malts, real dry astringency. Bittersweet dark chocolates and earthy, piney hops. Mild sweetness towards finish, vanilla and caramel.

Feel- Medium feel, creamy, really drying feel from start to finish. Moderate carbonation.

Overall- Real intense bitterness. Roasted malts and hops in the base beer already create a substantial bitterness, but the oak almost takes it to another level. I almost disagree with the commercial description that the oak aging rounds out the roastiness, it seems to amplify, or add a new kind of bitterness through the oak that amplifies. Either way, its a great beer.

This is probably as close to perfection as a stout can get. This is pure roasted heaven. I'm not even going to spend time doing the traditional review thing. Just imagine the quintessential stout and you will find all those elements on this beer.

Mellowed for three months in the cellar. Deep black body with a pourus brown head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted grains, charred wood, oak, smoke and fudge. Big chocolate taste that isn't too sweet; leads quite nicely to the roasted malt followed by the oak. Outstanding stout that hits the right notes: bitter, light hops, sweet chocolate and earthy oak. Alcohol brings warmth not heat; very complimentary. Not a fan of the BA Yetti but this has me looking forward to picking up the Oak Aged Expresso.

22oz bomber poured into a snifter.

I may be in the minority, but I'm not really feelin' this beer at all. The pour looks fantastic and the smell is inviting, but the taste did not do it for me. I was expecting the usual notes and sweetness of other BA stouts, but this one was rather bland and bitter to me. It tasted like dark roast coffee. As it warmed up, some of the flavors came through, but it was still rather disappointing based on the other reviews.

The quintessential imperial stout ! Pours dark and feels thick . . . Very thick and creamy. Aromas and flavors of oak and chocolate. Slightly smoothed out compared to the original Yeti. The best of all Yeti's and variations. Simply a really terrific beer.
