Pours dark almost black with decent head and lacing. Smells of roasted malts, faint coffee/ chocolate, and oddly, a touch bitter, acidic, and winey, Reminiscent of an aged Port I had recently. I assume this is the oak? Taste is similar, mouthfeel is thick and dry but not boozy. Overall, good quality but not something I'd return to, especially given the ABV making it a bit of a commitment. Well done but not my preference.

Very dark appearance with slight tan head and some carbination. Aroma is a caramel and almost bourbon aged light. The taste is a little course caramel and nutty. Frankly after barrel aging, I expected a smoother taste.

Enjoyed the 2006 vintage of this beer at a friends cellar cleaning share. May have been a little past its prime but was still dark, chocolaty and delicious.

A - Motor oil black. 1 inch creamy brown head that held for around a minute. Very thick and viscous with tiny carbonation bubbles.

S - Lots of chocolate, vanilla, coffee, with some booze. Smell started to fade a bit after a couple of minutes.

T - Woody and chocolaty. Sweet with a strong booziness. Bitter aftertaste.

M - Very thick and leaves a silky residue.

O - Strong smell, strong flavors. Thick and heavy. Really into this one.
