I've had mixed reactions from Great Divide--their Yetti is spectacular, while others are just okay. This porter is nice and sweet and very, very smooth. It was velvety and light at the same time.

However, its taste was nothing too complex. Subtle coffee, with sweet and some sour malts.
This would be a nice introductory porter for someone new to the genre.

a pretty good porter here, very much in the english style. i found it to be a bit sweet and a bit under carbonated for my tastes, but otherwise its quite good. medium brown, crystal clear, with a ruby red glow in the light. not much head on it. the nose and taste both are chocolate malty and sweet, amber beer sweetness, an odd sensation in a porter, which i usually look at as being dryer and more clean. it has a slightly watered down texture too, which surprises me in this dark colored brew with so much residual sugar. its a little generic overall, a beer i have tasted a thousand times, nothing super distinct about it at all. that said, the flavors work well together and its a rather true to style porter. more carbonation would make it outstanding, but it drinks a little heavy without it. one and done for me.
