a pretty good porter here, very much in the english style. i found it to be a bit sweet and a bit under carbonated for my tastes, but otherwise its quite good. medium brown, crystal clear, with a ruby red glow in the light. not much head on it. the nose and taste both are chocolate malty and sweet, amber beer sweetness, an odd sensation in a porter, which i usually look at as being dryer and more clean. it has a slightly watered down texture too, which surprises me in this dark colored brew with so much residual sugar. its a little generic overall, a beer i have tasted a thousand times, nothing super distinct about it at all. that said, the flavors work well together and its a rather true to style porter. more carbonation would make it outstanding, but it drinks a little heavy without it. one and done for me.

It looks right for a porter, though it's got some lightness to the body and doesn't appear to have quite so much texture as the typical American-style, more robust porter. The tan head is retained fairly well after reaching one finger's height, though it gets a little wispy, and it manages a goodly amount of sticky lacing in patches.
Some chocolate is firm on the nose, on the sweeter side of bittersweet with some creaminess. There's an interesting near-tartness hiding. Roast is there, though not as prominent as it is in many of the style, and there's something like nuttiness underneath.
The taste is a little sweeter, a little creamier, and a little richer, all while allowing the roast to carry it without any acrid edge. There's a bit of coffee, and some earthiness comes into the finish even as a touch of balancing hops come out.
Despite the question in the look, this is a nice, full, rich porter with a full body and a smooth flow.
