Coffee, chocolate, coffee, and ash notes in the entry. Spot on with the espresso notes. I'm a huge espresso fan so this hits home for me. GD nails it in the espresso department. Dark chocolate, almost bittersweet cocoa, falls in just after the espresso. This is a palate banger, for sure. The chocolate adds an under note of nuanced sweetness and backbone. It just keeps all the bold coffee and chocolate in from running rampant. As the beer warms, the beer softens up, as does the coffee/espresso notes. I pulled and poured this beer (tulip) at about 48F and let warm. The hops are present also. Notes of herbs, modest hoppy spiciness, along with a hint of minty "greeness"/freshness. Body is slightly creamy and carbonation is sudsy and welcoming. Big ash/acrid notes and black licorice-like spices linger on the palate. Overall, this is a very good beer. If you're not the breakfast stout type, walk away. If you are a fan this will be on the extreme edge of the sub-style. For me personally, it's a bit much on the coffee and roasted flavors. If it had just a little more pronounced sweetness, I would love it. That said, I like it. It's well crafted. I have friends who love beers like this. If you can find bottles I would suggest trying at least once. I will sit on my second bottle for a year or so and see how it mellows.

Growler into pint glass. Pours an opaque black with a big, durable dark-tan head. Initial impression is bitter dark chocolate, strong coffee and oak, plus a pretty evident alcohol burn. Pretty smooth, though. Mouthfeel is medium - I'd prefer if it were a little thicker. Carbonation is medium - could be a little lighter, for the style. Finish is lighter than I'd expect, dry, and expresso-bitter.
This is definitely not a sweet liqueur-type stout. It makes you sit up and take notice.

Enjoying a 12oz snifter pour at the Nashua Garden during Happy Hour.

It's dark and thick like sludge, with a creamy layer of mocha colored foam covering the surface. Lacing is exquisite, with nice stick all over. Has a great mix of mocha, espresso, vanilla and dark choco in the nose. Body is more than medium though surprisingly not real full or chewy. Still very smooth though.

Taste is superb, with more roasty coffee, bitter dark choco, espresso and hints of dark fruit. Has some earthy, tobacco notes and a decent amount of florality in the finish. Quite tasty; would love to try this side-by-side with the standard Yeti. Prosit!!

A - Motor oil black, no head.

S - Prunes and malts.

T - Sweet with prominent notes of bourbon and espresso.

M - Tasted very flat with a medium body. Maybe possible that the bottle leaked before opening.

O - Was pretty disappointed by the flatness. Otherwise the taste was good. I may have to try to find this one again and see if the bottle leaked before opening.
