Pours a nice black with a small brownish head. Head breaks leaving a few wisps of foam and there is some good lacing.

Smell is oaky whiskey, vanilla, leather, chocolate and roasts.

Taste comprises all the elements of the smell, with the warming barrel notes leading the way. Leather and vanilla come in next, with the chocolate roasts finishing things up and lingering.

Feel is smooth and full with good carbonation. Booze heat is noticable but not intrusive.

A fine beer for my 1400th beer. Once again Great Divide and the Yeti series do not disappoint. Truly a great beer.

L: Jet black body with a dark chestnut head that requires a vigorous pour to rouse to a finger width. Decent lacing for a beer this big.
S: oak, vanilla, whiskey and chocolate ice cream. Just a hint of wet cardboard late.
T: decedent and beautifully balanced. This beer is way to easy to drink. It’s like a liquid desert but not at all cloying. Vanilla, cherries, cocoa and woody notes make this a very complex profile.
F: silky and smooth, boozy heat. A bit of alkaline in he finish.
O: I’m blown away. I had high hopes but this far exceeded my expectations. This is one of the best BA stouts that’s widely distributed.

Pours pitch black, impervious to light. Kakhi head slowly fades to a ring around the glass, lacing it nicely. Big boozy aroma, loads of chocolate, roasted malt, some vanilla and coffee. Huge flavor of chocolate, bourbon, pretty boozy, vanilla and espresso on the finish, which is a bit bitter and dry. Very creamy and full bodied, absolutely delicious. Allow this to warm up to almost room temperature to drink. This is a bottle that I would expect to wait in line for 2 hours for. Amazing that it is on shelves in beer stores.

Many thanks to SawDog505 for this bottle!

A - Pitch black pour with dense burnt toffee colored lacing, lots of viscosity.

S - Dark chocolate malt, cocoa, light smokiness, vanilla, whiskey, a hint of black licorice/anise.

T - Dark smokey chocolate from start to finish, char/charcoal, whiskey, vanilla, oak, cherries. Has a lingering bourbon/chocolate/cherry finish.

M - Big/full bodied, silky and velvety with some pronounced warming on the way down.

O - First time experiencing this beer and did not disappoint. Very flavorful with nice layers of complexity. Recommended.

Picked up a single from the Craft Beer Quick Stop 9-4-17 for $9.99. Bottled on 3-22-17.

Beer poured black as night with a beautiful tan head that is leaving lacing behind.

Nose is roasted malts, dark chocolate, vanilla, and a hint of whiskey.

Taste is a wonderful medley of chocolate and vanilla layered over the wonderful well balanced Yeti base brew. Finish has a touch of leather and whiskey.

Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied and very smooth and satisfying.

Overall this was a delicious brew, very happy i finally got the opportunity to try!

12oz bottle with a bottled on date of Mar 22 2017. Pours a pitch black color with a thin layer of dark brown head. Good amount of lacing. Boozey, earthy aroma with lots of wood, leather, molasses, dark chocolate, dark fruits and espresso. The first sip is Whiskey followed by some dark cherries, dark chocolate, leather, earth, black coffee, figs and molasses. Whiskey finish with bitter dark chocolate and charred wood. Heavy body with a velvety mouthfeel and low carbonation. About as boozey as expected. I love regular Yeti and this is a nice variant that I hope to try with some age on it.

I think this might be the biggest I ever got ripped off in a beer trade. You gotta do it once though, totally make you rethink what you're doing. At the time, Cantillon was just shelf turding it up in Reno. I was buying a bottle every time I went to any store that had it (and multiple did). Anyways, long story short, I traded a 750 & 375 ml of Classic Gueuze for this. D'oh.

Anyways, this beer pours a dark black, brown head, very thin 1/4" and eviscerates itself. Aroma of roasted chocolate malt and whiskey, not too bad, but its strong.
Taste, its a nice drinker, a little heavier on the whiskey notes than your average barrel aged stout. Weird thing was as it warmed, it actually got less hot and easier to drink. As it warms, the vanilla and oak come out more and more, contributing to the beer getting easier to drink. What was substantially bitter at first, mellows out into a nice beer. Wouldn't trade an arm and a leg for it again, but you know, its a good beer.

2016 Vintage

A: Poured into a snifter to a deep black beer topped by a finger and a half of dense dark tan head that retains well as it fades to a collar around the edge of the glass with some lacing
S: Smells of chocolate covered espresso beans against a nice roasty background along with that standard caramel, vanilla and oak from the barrel. Barrel is light on the nose though
T: Taste is rich dark chocolate and espresso along with some charred wood and oak. Light caramel and vanilla from the barrel along with some bitter dark roasted malts. Swallow is more roasted malts, chocolate and coffee with the barrel coming strong in the finish with a nice shot of oak, caramel and vanilla.
M: The beer has a rich and velvety mouthfeel to go with a full body along with soft carbonation that is adequate for the style. The beer has a dry finish which is very nice.
O: Overall this one is pretty good but I wish they used an actual bourbon barrel instead of stranahan's. Good barrel flavor and uniquely Colorado but the spirit does give some harsh qualities on the finish that I usually don't find in beers at this ABV. I like it and would buy it again. This in a bourbon barrel would probably be lights out.
