This is a great beer! The only thing and I mean the only thing from separating this beer from the top barrel aged stouts is the feel. Otherwise for the price and the availability this beer belongs among the elite BA stouts.

**2015 vintage**
L: pours pitch black with a small very dark head.
S: big barrel, then a mix of chocolate, dark fruits and molasses.
T: thankful the barrel and chocolate prevail! Not the boldest Ba stout but the barrel and chocolate are very good in this one. No bitter aftertaste, sweetness throughout. Job well done.
F: It's thick, smooth.
O: yum!

2016 vintage
750ml bottle poured into a snifter

A- pours deep black in color with a two-finger creamy dark tan head that has great retention long after the pour and leaves some nice lacing behind, looks great

S- smells of charred roasted malt up front with notes of dark chocolate, smoke, black cherry, molasses, earthy leather and toffee. Whiskey barrel notes popping through, adding some earthy wood aromas, as well as whiskey spice and vanilla

T- opens up with strong dark roasted malt that gives plenty of char and smoky notes, quickly followed by notes of anise, fig, date & molasses, classic Yeti roast bomb. Barrel notes are very subtle, but I think it's partly because the base beer is so strong and roasty. There are subtle hints of oak and whiskey, along with some vanilla sweetness that pops through near the finish. Lingers of more roast & dark fruit

M- thick and viscous body with moderate carbonation leads to a creamy mouthfeel that continues into a velvety, silky, slightly warming finish, perfect

O- though this isn't extremely different than regular Yeti, it still taste like a Yeti, which is delicious to begin with, in your face roast all the way through, but doesn't lose drinkability

Not worth the money. Don't get me wrong, this is a very tastey beer but it's hardly discernable from regular yeti. There's lots of roast, bitter chocolate, and earthiness. But there's next to no bourbon/oak/vanilla etc that a barrel aged beer should pick up.

Additionally it's quite thin in look and feel. If I want a roasty RIS I may reach for a yeti. But if I want a roasty BA RIS I'll reach for a BA ten fidy or something else. Not worth $16, not even close.

Poured into a Duvel tulip. Label says Bottled On: NOV 02 2016.

A- Pours a fully opaque black color with a 1/2 inch medium brown head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a large center patch of surface foam. Resilient lacing leaves large clots behind.

S- Can definitely tell it's Yeti with that huge charry aroma with lots of molasses, dark chocolate and smoke. Not a lot of bourbon though.

T- There it is. Initial roasty flavor of the mammoth known as Yeti but it soon settles into a sweet finish of vanilla, fudge and marshmallow. There's even a spiciness that binds the profile together that reminds me of tequila oddly enough. I think it's the bold flavors of the base beer melding with the softness of the barrel. ABV is hidden very well and the extreme roast never becomes tiresome due to the mellowing that the barrel has induced.

M- Super creamy and robust with medium-low carbonation and the fullest of bodies.

O- An incredible BA imperial stout for the money (A modest $16 price tag where I got it from). So glad they finally came out with a proper release of this beer after the issues that occurred years ago.

2016 (2-3 months old). An utterly fantastic beer. Keeps the simultaneous rich chocolate and intense hoppiness of the base beer such that you know you are drinking a Yeti and adds the delicious bourbon, coconut, and oak of the barrel. Very well balanced in that sense. Long, hoppy/oaky/dryish finish. Not super complex, but massive, massive flavor. Delicious.

Look: BA Yeti pours a dark dark brown with a slim khaki head that dissipates quickly. Carbonation appears to be bubbling up to the top from the edges. Swirling leads to some glass lacing.

Smell: An initial hit of barrel and bourbon encompasses the nose, followed by the base beer's anise and leather scent. Swirling leads to some chocolate, and possibly a slight roast.

Taste: bourbon, some barrel, chocolate, and then the anise, leather, tobacco comes out in the middle. I think the barrel really helps Yeti, as I don't like the anise much, and gives some depth. The taste finishes with a chocolate and bourbon flavor.

Feel: The body feels a bit thinner than preferred, maybe medium/medium plus. The carbonation helps the body feel a bit fuller. The finish is drying, and there's also a burn I get in the throat.

Overall: Considering my dislike of the base beer, BA Yeti is a hit for me. I like how the barrel takes the intense flavors of the base, and tones them down, while adding other flavor.
