Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout is another revered incarnation of our legendary imperial stout. We toned down the hops a bit to allow cocoa nibs to contribute some pleasing bitterness, while vanilla notes from the oak combine with the cocoa to create an aroma and flavor akin to a gourmet chocolate bar. A dash of cayenne keeps things lively, adding just a bit of heat to the finish. Another great Yeti? Hell yes.

Appearance - The beer was black with low carbonation and a slight crown of mocha colored bubbles topic of the glass.

Smell - Dry baker’s chocolate combined with barrel notes to form the smell.

Taste - Dark bakers chocolate notes lead the way, becoming more dry with the oak barrels. Well the profile is overall dry, there was some sweetness. The oak added a dimension that made this really pleasant as it lingered.

Mouthfeel - The feel seemed a bit thin for a stout.

Overall - I stout like this is hard to find.

2017 vintage. Poured into a Dogfish Head tulip

L: Inky black pour with 1.5 fingers of mocha colored head. Great lacing.

S: Big bitter roast... coffee, cocoa, and oak.

T.F: Rich and roasty. Bitter/sweet... dark chocolate and espresso plus char. Vanilla and oak... and a little bit of cayenne coming in at the finish. Medium to heavy bodied... smooth and creamy. Bitter finish... dry with a little smoke and more chocolate.

O: A very solid barrel aged stout and a solid take on 'Yeti'. I really like the cayenne addition. Definitely added a little something... and this was the perfect beer for a 10 degree February evening.

2017 vintage. Huge dark brown head above obsidian body. Nose is bakers chocolate and dark fruits. The alcohol is noticable but mostly measured. The chocolate is present but is not sweet at all and mixes well with the oak and dash of cayenne to present an interesting, original Impy stout. Texture is thick and coarting, but not obscenely so. Aftertaste is very dry, with a touch of smoke among all the woody and malt notes. Very good, but not quite elite among the style for me.

2017 edition. Very average. Didn’t get much chocolate out of this.

22oz bottle. Bottling date of 'MAY 02 2016'.
Black colored body, with a very thin edge of back lit medium brown. Two fingers of dark tan head. Leaves a few string of lacing.
Aroma of dark roasted malts, with chocolate, vanilla/oak and a slight spicy note.
Taste follows the nose, with a rich chocolate and vanilla combination, and the added spicy note.
Medium mouth feel, texture is quite smooth. Good carbonation.
I expected the chocolate in this but I did not expect to get the slight cayenne spice note. Well blended.
