Poured from a can. Dark brown in color with a tan head. Smells of pumpkin, spice and cinnamon. Taste follows the smell, starts with the pumpkin and spice and ends with the cinnamon. It all works together pretty well.

12 oz can, canned 8/12/20. Pours brown with a medium bubbly light tan head that retains fairly well and laces the glass some.

The aroma is sweet caramel malt and floral pumpkin spice and cinnamon.

The flavor is toasted caramel malt with a pumpkin spice finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, one of the better pumpkin beers I've had in a while.

12oz can

Pours two massive fingers of tan head into my Boston Lager glass. Retention is pretty good, and lasts for close to 5 minutes before dwindling down to a frothy rim of foam. Initial lacing looks killer. Body is nearly black, hues of ruby shine through when held up to the light. Lots of bubbles coming up from what I can see. Looks nice so far.

Nose on this is insane, graham cracker, nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice jump out with a ridiculous potency. Notes of pumpkin pie as well. Doesn’t smell grossly sweet, but flirting with it. The young beer drinker in me loves this, the homebrewer in me has to wonder how close this is to actual beer? Kinda over the top here, and that’s within the spectrum of pumpkin beers. Some “earthier” notes do come out over time. I’ll give this the glass half full rating.

Flavor is much more mellow, which is probably a good thing. All of those spices blend together nicely, but they spend more time in the background, and come out a little more in the finish. Not much pumpkin surprisingly. This might have actually toned it back too far. Still, not bad.

Mouthfeel is a little odd. Carbonation is medium, but seems like I may be losing some of that to nucleation. Body is actually pretty watery, quite certain it’s not related to carbonation though, this is just thin. Luckily not all that sweet. Maybe some bitterness in the finish. Spices do a nice job of dancing on the tongue. The mouthfeel is probably the biggest issue here.

Drinkability is fine, this goes down easy.

Appearance turned out pretty nice, lacing was thick for most of the way down the glass.

Overall not bad, kinda a tale of two sides with this beer, the nose being arguably too big and the flavor being a tad light. Not uncommon for there to be a drop off between those two areas, but not to this degree. Glad it’s not just pie in a bottle, but there is a little to be desired.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, orange amber color with a small, khaki-colored head of foam. It left very little lacing. It smelled of pumpkin, cinnamon, spices and caramel. It tasted of sweet pumpkin and toffee with a great balance of fall spices. Crisp and smooth.

Look – Sits nearly pitch black in the glass though some dark brown can be seen on the edges. The pout produced two fingers of almond-colored head.

Aroma – Strong, sweet malt notes and lots of nuttiness from the base brown ale. Not picking up any pumpkin or spices.

Taste – A bit more complexity on the taste. The sweet malts are here to stay, but this now carries a kick of brown sugar and even some maple. Cinnamon makes a brief cameo, but like the nose, actual pumpkin flavor is lacking. Still, it has a lot of variety.

Mouthfeel – Full-bodied with mild carbonation. It’s not so sweet where it becomes sugary or sticky.

Overall – As a brown ale, it is pretty damn good. As a pumpkin beer, it is not worthy of its namesake. That being said, it is a tasty beer.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a dark reddish amber color with a one finger head of tan foam. The head fades rather fast leaving just a trace of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strong of a roasted pumpkin pie like smell with lots of cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg. Along with these smells comes some nice sweet smells of caramel and brown sugar.
Taste – The taste begins with a nice roasted malt flavor that is blended with a rather moderately strong roasted pumpkin taste. Upfront there is also a bit of brown sugar and molasses sweetness as well as some spice of cinnamon and nutmeg. As the taste advances the spice gets stronger while the sweetness fades a bit. At the same time the roasted flavors get slightly stronger, and in the end, leave one with a nice moderately spiced and toasted pumpkin taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is moderate in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather average. For the pumpkin, roast and spice the feel is a nice as it keeps the beer very easy drinking, while still nicely accentuating the flavors.
Overall – A rather tasty and easier drinking pumpkin brew with a nice roasty and toasty taste.

12oz can poured into a pint

A- pours deep brown in color with a one-finger foamy khaki colored head that reduces to a film floating on top

S- smells of nutty brown malts that gives some chocolate aromas, followed by notes of nutmeg, vanilla cream & pie crust, with undertones of cinnamon and clove

T- cinnamon is first noticed, much more than on the nose, followed by nutmeg and clove. Mid-palate gives a malty backbone that adds some nutty and chocolate flavors. The finish is sweet, with notes of vanilla cream and brown sugar, lingers of clove and brown malts

M- medium body with medium carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a slightly creamy finish

O- more malty than a typical pumpkin ale, almost like a brown ale, which plays well with the pumpkin spicing

Poured moderately hard from a can into a mug, forming a pile of light brown head on slightly orangey brown body. Head soon faded to a bit of lacing. Smell is a nice pumpkin. Taste is a lot more brown ale than I was expecting. Pumpkin is definitely the background, but the brown ale flavors are more forward and linger at the end. Just shy of medium bodied with minimal carbonation after the pour. I like this one better than the average brown ale, but nothing special as far as pumpkin ales go.

I see the base is a brown ale and that's basically what it tastes like. Honestly it seems kinda slightly average for a brown ale. Don't get much pumpkin at all being real. I like it as an average brown but I'm really not getting much pumpkin at all so I'm knocking it for that.
