Rumble IPARumble IPA

Brewed by:
Great Divide Brewing Company
Colorado, United States

Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.10%

Availability: Fall

Notes / Commercial Description:
RUMBLE IPA is an American IPA with subtle nuance. Brewed with heavy handed additions of Pacific Northwest hops, this beer is gently aged on French and American oak resulting in a wonderful balance of bitterness, caramel sweetness, vanilla, and undertones of pine and citrus. Very inspiring.

Bottle from yankee spirits in Sturbridge MA
Pours a clear medium gold color with a decent head that leaves plenty of lace on the way down. Smells of caramel, toffee, earthy pine, a hint of wood and vanilla. The flavor is a bit sweet with caramel brown sugar and toffee up front. Next comes an onslaught of earthy pine bitterness that borders at times on the harsh. Light vanilla and oak creep in before a lingering hop bite. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick resinous mouthfeel. This ones good, but the hops feel a bit faded but still quite harsh. A bit of oxidation messes with the smoothness and adds some toffee sherry notes that are out of place in my opinion.

A: A clear dark orange color that has a nice finger of off white head at the top, leaves a good amount of lacing around the glass as you drink this one.

S: A good amount of booze on the nose, with hints of caramel and oak and slight bread notes as well.

T: Up front is a stong taste of oak, hints of nuts and caramel, good mixture of bitterness and warming from malts and hops.

M: Medium bodied and moderate carbonation, nice warming sensation from the hops.

O: A very well balanced IPA, I like the oak and caramel on this one, nice warming going on as well.

Pours a slightly hazy amber with a cream colored head and nice lacing. Aroma is citric and piney hops paired with some oak and vanilla. Flavor is a nice marriage of hops and oak chis, piney and fruity, oak and vanilla, and some caramel and toffee from the malt. A crisp mouthfeel. Overall, one of the better Great Divide beers for me. Not a huge fan of this brewery, but this is a solid beer for sure.
