Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a becker glass.

A: Clear, light golden color with over one finger of white foam head. Heavy lacing remains on the glass.

S: Chile spice and dried hay are balanced, with a fine thread of floral hops. Dimethyl sulfide is hinted at in its most obvious qualities, but otherwise the smell is very clean.

T: Begins off-dry, with bright acidity and mild floral hop aromatics. Malt becomes more evident into the middle where honest pilsner qualities and sulfurous off-flavors are in conflict right after pouring. The finish is intensely husky sees the profile at its most floral; bitterness is moderate with a drying mineral edge.

M: Thin to medium viscosity, crisp and slightly resinous on the palate, with moderate carbonation.

D/O: This beer presents sensory qualities in heaps; some good and a few questionable. Its pilsner core is solidly constructed around light malt qualities that do not disappoint. It appears to be a better version of a Bavarian pilsner, with a hops edge that seems a little blunted. Still, it is one of Great Divide's better stylistic examples, aside from basic Yeti.

12oz bottle, bottled on 1/12/12. Pours a clear yellow with a fluffy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet corny malts and some metallic, floral noble hops.

The flavor is sweet grainy malts with some vegetal notes. There's a good amount of bitterness in the finish from the noble hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a little watery.

Overall, decent hops but very vegetal and sweet.

Goldish yellow body with good clarity. Forms a rocky finger high head which hold for a minutes before subsiding into a cap of white with good coverage. Flecks of suds on the glass.

Straw and bready malts with a bit of honey oat cereal and lemon pith thrown in the mix.

Cracker thin malts with some honey sweetness. Works well as hops add a straw and lemon note, a bit of carried on spiciness with a metallic finish along with a pleasant bitter layer.

Average pilsner body, average carbonation here. A bit of drying and soapiness on the palate to go with that metallic twinge.

Decent pils with good flavor, attractive set up with the malt bill though hop presence could be tightened up some. Not sure what that metallic taste is on the finish but it does fade rather quickly.

Pours a yellow ale with a finger of fine whites - typical. Smells Grainy, corny, some grassy hops. Nice enough.

Flavor follows suite with a crisp, corny profile with some spice to it. Good Czech Pilsner. Clean and sharp carbonation with low body to it.

Nice call, good retreat from the normal winter release. Will enjoy again.

12 fl oz bottle served in a pilsner glass, reviewed live:

A - Pours a transparent, straw golden color with a soapy, white head of three fingers and lively carbonation. Retention is above average. It's definitely appealing, but not remarkable.

S - Sweet honey and pilsner malt, floral notes, spice, and a bit of cereal grain. Seemingly balanced and mild strength.

T - Light malt body is countered by a very fresh grassy hops flavor. It's balanced well, and the hops actually make this beer without it being close to overly bitter. That being said, it's incredibly simple. It works well as the ingredients are fresh (this bottle being packaged about 2 weeks ago), but it'd lose it's charm as it ages.

M - Light bodied, and entirely too slick for my tastes. Not as highly carbonated as I thought.

D - It's high quality and highly drinkable, and tastes extremely fresh. I'd have it again, especially on draught, but not one I'd go out of my way for.

The Nomad is a solid offering from Great Divide. The beer poured a clear crisp yellow with thin white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent has some grain and biscuit flare. The taste is slightly sharp and grain and alcohol definitely present. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall the beer is solid and worth a try for those that enjoy pilsners.
