On-tap at Brewvival 2102

Pours a dark amber-brown with a small ring of off-white bubbles. Whoa...lots of vinegar in the nose. Like, all vinegar. Maybe a touch of malt. Taste is ridiculously sour, 100 percent vinegar. is this a joke? Did Great Divide carbonate apple cider vinegar? I love a good sour beer, but complexity and depth are required, too, not just vinegar. Carbonation is sharp, with a medium mouthfeel. No way, this wasn't even drinkable, and upon pouring it out I imagine it burning through the ground, like the alien blood in Alien.

On tap at the Great Divide tap takeover - the day before Brewvival 2012

Appearance: The beer displays a chestnut color with a modest head that leaves just a few spots of lace

Smell: Caramel, chocolate and white balsamic vinegar

Taste: Caramel and chocolate, up front, with a growing tartness that has a grape and balsamic vinegar tartness; very tart but light on funk right through the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation; very puckery

Overall: Like the way the caramel and chocolate elements make a difference to this sour; I know a lot of the folks at Brewvival didn't like this beer due to its overwhelming sourness but I didn't find it undrinkable when I tasted it the night before from a different keg

Had during Brewvival 2012! Served from tap into a Brewvival sampler imperial pint. Poured burnt orange with a half finger off-white head that subsided to a minimal amount slowly. Maintained decent lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, glacial acetic acid, and fruit. The flavor was of sweet malt, pure vinegar, fruit, and tart. It had a light feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a fairly decent brew. First off, I have never drank glacial acetic acid before, but work with it quite often at work. This brew is what I would imagine that it would taste like as far as the vinegar goes. It is just SO abrasive on this thing. Even on the nose you get so much vinegar that it is almost overwhelming. Personally, I love the smell of acetic acid, so I was a big fan of the aroma. But the flavor was just a little bit much. Just needed more sweetness to help balance out the intense vinegar aspect going on here. Tick.
