I purchased this bottle at Grain & Verse, enjoyed chilled in a glass chilled.

The color is a dark ruby with light khaki head with fine bead and good retention with hazed look and lace that sticks. The smell is very hop forward with citrus and toasted grain with slight fruity ester and light grapefruit in the hop scent with very pleasant mix of malt and hops. The feel is very good with mild sweetness and moderate bitterness with med full body and light resinous texture with semi-dry finish and toasted malt texture with long lingering bitter finish.

The taste is very good with fruity and citrus flavor with spicy and bitter herbal hop flavor and mild grapefruit in the hops with toast from the rye malt and slight sweetness with gently bitter flavor increasing as it finishes on the dry side. This is a solid rye IPA with lots of hops in the taste low malt yet enough hop flavor to match and then some with lots of bitterness. The combo of rye with Amarillo Columbus and simcoe is very enjoyable

This beer was perfect for switching up my beer styles this past weekend. After drinking multiple wonderful stouts, I needed to drink something else besides a stout for a bit. Popped this bottle open and poured a nice amber color with a thin white head. You can definitely smell the rye and it smelled GREAT! A nice smooth Rye IPA and very easy to drink. I can see myself making this a summer beer for me. Definitely would like to get more!

pours dark amber, nearly brown. solid white head as well.

smells sweet, more malty.

tastes like spicy rye malt and sweet hops. nice combination, not overpowering in any one direction. goes down smooth, easy drinking IPA. spicier than most IPAs because of the rye malt but not overpoweringly bitter.

overall a pretty good beer, rye beers are an oddity but well done Ryes can be great beers. this is a good beer but not special. Smuttynose Rhye was fantastic, this is just above average good. would drink again but have had better.

A nice rye I had on draft while stuck in Phillys airport. Very drinkable but it doesn't stand out from the crowd of Rye IPAs. I will take a Founders RyePA or Hop Rod Rye over this but am not sad I ordered it.
