Ahh yes....Ruby's. This is the local hangout I was introduced to by my friends I work with at the York Fire Dept. and by my wive. It used to be an ok spot to grab dinner and a drink, but has gone downhill since. They have the usual beers bottled and on tap, your Buds, Millers, and Guiness. A few craft beers from the area, but not much. Food has gone downhill in quality and increased in price. Unfortunatly some of the locals that are regulars often start fights and go there to just hit on the wait staff and get into those fights. I find myself going less and less and this used to be a weekly hangout for us on the Fire and Police Depts during our time off. Quite a few of my friends still go weekly if not more. I try to avoid it now.

We were headed up to Kennebunkport and needed a place to stop for lunch. I checked the rated placed on Beeradvocate and saw this was right along the way.

A nice place to stop if you are in the area.

14 beers on tap with more of the basics available in bottle.

The 8 or so seats at the bar were filled with locals that certainly helped the atmoshpere. They were passionately debating baseball stats and this was music to my ears.

Along with our beers we enjoyed a Jerked Chicken sandwich and a salad.

Both were very good and a nice value.

Good spot.

Service started off a little spotty, but then the waitress warmed up and became friendly.

It happens, it's New England.

Stop if you are passing by, but don't make this a destination.

My second home. Ruby's is one of those places that you just feel comfortable in. It's not much to look at, but it's a warm and friendly establishment. The front area is divided into a bar with tables on the left and the dining area on the right. If you go through those, you come out to the deck in the rear of the building. Part of the deck is open, part enclosed. The deck is kind of a sports bar, with TVs all over the place. Great for watching football games. On Sundays during football season there's free peanuts and hot dogs.
There are a dozen beers on tap. Admittedly, many are macros. But they always have Sam Lager and Sam seasonal (Sam's White right now), Shipyard Export and Shipyard seasonal (Honey Porter), Geary's HSA, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, and Newcastle Brown. They even have Woodchuck Cider on tap. The owners are willing to listen to patrons: I lobbied for Geary's HSA, and now it's always there.
The food is quite good, particularly the wood-grilled pizzas. They also do a good job with burgers and some BBQ. Dinners are also available, pasta, steaks, and some seafood.
Service is exemplary.
I think Ruby's is a great place to have good beer, good food, and a good time.
