This is only the second review and rating in 10 years. Unusual for a Belgian bar/restaurant to be in business that long and not have more BA types passing through.
The Vibe is a good, laid-back change of pace for Melbourne's Southbank which, in the summer, may have too much going on. The Selection seems to be about half Belgian and the rest mostly a mix of Aussie and American spread out over twelve taps and 100 bottles. I had an Aussie Saison brewed by Exit. It was suitable with a varied cheese plate. Both decent. My wife said her mussels were average.
Overall, I enjoyed this respite from Aussie beer... and so did, it seemed, most people in a full beer garden. This Cafe is a good reminder to Melbourne's growing gastro-scene that some of the best brewers brew for the kitchen.

I've been here a few times now for various reasons and can never really get into it.
Sure, it's a nice enough place and the beer is usually decent (and usually way too cold) but it's not somewhere I would choose to go as a beer nerd.
It's some what hidden location is a plus as it's usually quite laid back as opposed to the more established & better known Bluestone on St Kilda Rd.
The service has been mixed; everything from "I know way more than you" bartenders to bartenders who poured a glass full of head. The most recent time there was a new manager who was quite friendly and helpful. I also noticed the know it all from previous times wasn't there. Hmmm.
The selection, well, the standard BBC crap on tap of course. But there is a much better bottle selection here than at the others I've been too. Mind you, it's all Belgian & there's nothing you can't get cheaper at the better bottle shops in Melbourne.
The food is usually good. Normally mussles of some sort with pomme frites for me.
So yeah, not a bad place but certainly not worth going out of your way for.
