maybe my favorite shushi beer. cool bottle obviously. pours hazy straw color with a one inch white head. looks like a wheat beer more than anything, and next to a tsing tao is looked positively unfiltered, but who knows. the smell is rather sweet from the malts, and a yeast that is a step up from generic provides some mild fruit tones. flavor is pretty similar to the nose, its is crisp and refreshing for sure, and stands up rather well to the hot wasabi. its a good palate cleanser between different fishes. mouthfeel is okay, bright and bubbly, but heavier than a lager should be i think. not a bad brew in the right context, btu certainly not something i would seek out outside of a sushi place.

A: Pours a pale yellow color with a decent head that fades to bits of lacing.

S: Aroma is musty with some malt sweetness and grain.

T: Pretty bland taste with mild sweetness and coarse grain. Mild bitterness and a fairly clean finish.

Light body, almost watery. Crisp with a coarse texture. Not a lot here.

Best served cold on a hot day. Basic lager. Best thing is the bottle it comes in.

Extremely smooth and easy-drinking, no aftertaste. Tried it a few times, once it was a bit skunky, but the other times it almost had a magical lightness to it. Falls flat in the flavour department, yes, but if you're in the mood for a refreshing, bubbly, light lager then you should give this one a try.

Poured into a pint glass, this beer has a crystal clear , golden blonde body with mild carbonation and is topped off with a thin white head that quickly thins out into a layer of fizz with almost no lacing. Some malts aromas are evident along with some mild citrus fruits smells like grapefruit and lemon. It’s very light on the tongue with a light mouth feel, but its very crisp and refreshing. Its got a sweet overtone to it but not much else. It goes down really smooth, maybe too smooth- but not bad overall.

Poured from the little Buddha bottle into a pint glass. Reviewed from notes.

A-No head, pale golden hue. Good carbonation. Clarity is high.

S- Skunky, light malts and grains. Grassy.

T- Grass, golden malts, wheat.

M- Super light with overcarbonation.

O- Smell sucks, taste is meh.

Very light, straw yellow colour with a thumb sized, bubbly white head and crystal clarity. The head lasts surprisingly well for a pale lager and holds for about a minute before gradually reducing in size but the colour is horrible.

Corn and other adjuncts in this one. It's basic and very much cheap pale lager like, with a very clean and almost metallic finish.

Lots of corn and cheap lager hops in the taste with a sharp, chemical like flavour following this. Again it is very basic but not overly offensive, just lacking complexity.

Very light and watery with a sharp and dry chemical finish and a very sticky feel to it. Not great on the palate at all I'm afraid to report.

Everything about it screamed that it was a cheap and basic pale lager. At a push it could maybe go well with some spicy food but in truth what lager doesn't?

The only thing Lucky about this beer is that it is not the only beer available .
Blandly ordinary , serving the function only to wet a dry and parched throat.
The bottle is pretty interesting.
A beer to guzzle and not put too much thought into , which , is clearly exactly what I have done

I got a couple of bottles of this for 60p (roughly one U.S. dollar)
mainly for the bottle but I got two so I could have one full and one empty, so okay I'll be brave and try this dodgy brew.

I'm not going to pull any punches, piss coloured with white head that goes faster then galloping knob rot round a brothel.

The Aroma is deceptively nice, hoppy and floral with malt notes.

Flat as a pancake depth of flavour you get the grain and expect the hops and nothing but to be honest I have had far worse cheap lager beers.

Thinner than a super model's IQ mouthfeel but not overly fizzy.

Drinkable, that is the best I can say.

A: Slightly hazy, sunshine yellow with a steady one inch head; some lacing; pretty bubbly

S: Grassy and grainy; lots of straw-like aromas; a bit musty

T: Grainy with some musty earthiness; finished okay--a bit watery and simple but also fairly pleasant

F: Somewhat thin and watery but not over-carbonated either

O: Not a bad BMC-like lager; fairly baland and unassuming but really not all that bad

Lucky Beer - my wife saw this bottle and said I had to try it, so I figured I havent got much to lose.

Appearance - very pale and not very impressive. Similar look to coors light

Smell - Not much fragrance, but better than your big name beer. I picked up hay, honey, and some light flowers

Taste - This made the beer for me. Such a great light flavor, prefect for the summer day when a porter or stout may be too much. Taste matches the smell

Moutfeel - a decent mouthfeel, along with a average amount of carbonation. Not overbearing but no so light its natty light.

Overall - a good beer when your tired of the specialities for a day. Instead of Bud Light, buy a Lucky Beer, and its cool bottle!

Lucky Buddha has a medium, white head and a just slightly hazy straw appearance, with little brown flecks floating about and a decent amount of lacing. The aroma (green bottle) was happily not skunked, but one gets sweetness, white bread, and a kiss of the hops. Taste is lightly roasted barley, bread, some paper, sweetness, bread crumb, a touch of pleasant bitterness, and there are other obscure flavors which I can’t pin down (honey?). Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Lucky Buddha Beer finishes crisp, clean, refreshing, dry, and easy drinking. This is a delightful lager.

Large white head, smooth, pale yellow body.

Reeks of un-cut skunky urine. Disgusting.

Light fruit, apple character in the taste. Bland, some macro corn aftertaste. Not nearly as bad as the smell.

Lightish feel, not quite watery.

Novelty bottle, that's it.

A - One finger of reasonably creamy white head, resting on a pale yellow golden body, the head is gone in about 30 secs and leaves just a few small traces of lace spots.

S - Typical adjunct lager aroma of corn and metal.

T - As with the nose, with some grain malt alongside.

M - Light bodied with decent carbonation.

O - Nice bottle design apart from the green glass, the contents however...meh.

Poured into a stange glass. "Best before" date stamped on bottle neck.

Pours a clear pale yellow body under a small thin layer of unremarkable head.

Smells of sweet corn and sweet grass in the late summer. Grainy and sweet, with just a faint hint of noble hops.

There is little substance to this flavor, but what is here is sweeter than the average adjunct lager and clean. The biting hops that sometimes accompany this style (or at least hop bitterness) is almost totally absent, making this very drinkable and easy to gulp down.

The mouthfeel is pretty carbonated and thin, but it has a soft character that makes this type of beer much more palatable when it is present.

Conclusion: As this style goes this is pretty good, and I appreciate the sweetness. The bottle itself is worth buying for the cheap price of this beer. If it is fresh, I would prefer this to almost any American adjunct lager.

I think this beer is now made in China.

Any way, it's not a lager for those expecting depth and a life changing experience. It was however very drinkable.

The brew was sweet, hardly any aftertaste, decent nose, and was slippery on the tongue. And the bottle is pretty awesome too!

I'd prefer this, by far, to domestic adjuncts...

The appearance is faded and foggy but the smell is pleasant. It smells like beer, except there is no overpowering wheat scent. It isn't skunky at all.

The taste is also nice. It has hardly a hint of bitter. It's a bit plain and then opens up in your mouth. It doesn't quite blossom, but it opens with a more solid motion in a metaphorical sense.

It has a neat mouthfeel as well. It's slimy, but really isn't bad.

It's also extremely drinkable.

Lucky is brewed by an Australian company!? WTF? Why? Anyhow, these thoughts aside the bottle appeals to my inner Buddha with the Budai "xiaofo" (which means "laughing Buddha" in Chinese) shaped bottle. So regardless of how the beer goes I have a bottle I can keep for later use (maybe I'll put my own homebrew in it).

Poured from a 330ml bottle into a 500ml Stein glass.

A: This brew has a hazy body that borders on pale yellow, fairly Asian lager looking. The white head reduces down to leave a mild lacing.

S: Rice and malt grains combine with fresh cut grass aromas to provide a pleasant (at least for an adjunct lager) odour. I wouldn't compare it to the sweet smell of a Belgian tripel but it's OK.

T: The malt is upfront, followed by sharp rice wine flavours and ending with Saaz hops (a hint that is). It's crisp and dry with a light bitterness. There's nothing big about it but I can see the appeal; it's clearly made to complement a hot day or a light meal.

M: Lighter on carbonation than most lagers (both Asian and international varieties). The body doesn't feel watery either, so that's a plus.

D: I know what you're thinking. "Did he enjoy the beer or did he not?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement reviewing I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a typical Asian lager, one of the most drinkable lager types in the world, and would blow your palate clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: Did I enjoy lucky? Well, did I, punk? ... yeah sure I did, it was alright, a straight "C".

Food match: Light Chinese fare and classic Japanese food would work well, or if you wanted to mix it up a little you could even mix it with modest flavoured food like a Vichyssoise. These northern Asian adjunct lagers work well with cuisine that is light in flavour.

Straw yellow appearance with little head that quickly fizzes away leaving some lacing. Smell consists of grain, grass, sweetness and some malt. Pretty average so far.

Taste is similar, mainly grain, corn, sweetness and grassiness. Picked up a small hint of hops and spices, very light overall but creamy. Light bodied with low carbonation. Aftertaste has a lingering bitter grass taste, but fairly dry overall.

Overall this is a very generic, has many features of a cheap adjunct beer. It is highly drinkable though and with nothing offensive. Worth a try if you’re eating spicy food, or if you want the bottle.

A - straw near white yellow, head started strong but dissipated fairly quickly leaving random soapy lacing
S - corn, adjunct, metallic, smells like a typical cheap beer
T - much like the nose, slightly tang to it but is generally bland
M - watery and thin
O - the buddha shaped bottle is the only thing that will sell this beer, and I imagine it will mostly be one time purchases, what a waste

Appearance is a light straw color with a quick fizzy head with carbonation rising to the top that fades quickly. Smell of slight skunk, rice and a turpentine note with light hops. Taste is light and clean finishing dry with rice in the back. Mouthfeel is light with a good spike of carbonation. Actually not to bad, would like to try it on tap.

A: Transparent yellow with whit foam and bubbles

S: Grassy, sweet, grain, weirdly metallic, just strange.

T: Grassy, cloying, grassy, adjunct flavors of corn and rice syrup… just plain bad. Horrid. It's like... rotten or something (and no I don't mean to imply the beer has gone bad, I think this is how it was meant to be). It literally is making me cringe with every sip. I think I need a doctor.

M: Bubbly and coating yet somehow thin at the same time. Feels like drinking fermented high fructose corn syrup.

O: No. Don’t do it. Don’t be fooled by the cool bottle. Want an Asian beer, get some Asahi or Tsingtao or Tiger. Thing is, I've had adjunct lagers that were drinkable (such as Mickey's) but this garbage is just unbearable. Ugh, it's coating my mouth like some kind of undissolvable oil.

Ugh, was it Bobby or Patrick that shared this beast? Either way, you suck.

A: The beer is a pale straw color with a short lived white head.

S: A distinct aroma of cigarettes and skunk. It's quite vegetal with plenty of corn. There's a bit of garbage water to it which only makes things better. Strangely, some grapes and corn syrup.

T: At least the flavor isn't quite as atrocious. Straw and corn are the biggest contributors. Not much in the way of cigarettes, though there still is some old vegetable smell to it. It's also sort of watery.

M: Very light in body with a medium level of carbonation.

O: Yeah, the bottle might be cool, but this beer is not good at all.

Bought it because of the bottle, as I suspect many others did.

A-Pee yellow with a fizzy thin head. Soapy lacing.

S-Corn, cheap adjunct grains. Smells cheap and unappealing.

T/M-Dry and crisp, with typical adjunct sweetness. To this beer's credit though, it isn't nearly as sweet as many other adjunct lagers. Very generic. Light bodied with moderate carbonation.

O-Not much to say about this one. Boring, not too bad.

Yeah, the bottle definitely won me over on this one. "Tractor beam...whooo."

A: Golden and clear with a thin white head that dissipates quickly.

S: Pale malts and faint grassy hops with some apple cider as well.

T: Pretty much a much more drinkable version of Bud Light. Grains and some bready malts with some lemon zest. For the style, it's actually not bad. I would take this over a lot of other beers in its class.

I like I am sure everyone else purchased this beer just based on the bottle.

Look: yellow with a very light head and no retention. Not impressed

Smell: Right off the bat you can tell it is a asian lager. It is a bit skunky malty and has a light hop note to it with traces of rice

Taste. Taste is a typical asian lager. Very muted flavors covered up mostly by the maltyness

Mouthfeel: Light crisp clean and boring

Overall: This beer is more like a novelty item since everyone just buys it for the bottle and that is really the only reason to buy this
