an amazing liquor store. friendly helpful staff, the guys i had encountered were also very knowledgeable about most of their booze also, not just beer mind you, but able to help out with most anything on the shelves. with the beer, I was rather impressed with the selection, most any brewery i had heard of in the country had at least a few examples on the shelves. they also had quite the Yankee micro selection, including 2009 Alaskan Smoked Porter. the truly amazing thing however, was the pour it yourself "growlers". In Kiwi Land, this also includes 1.5 and 2 liter bottles, as well as the glass jugs we yanks are so used to. the plastic however seemed to have little effect on the taste of the beers. Nothing brewed onsite, but instead taps of New Zealand Micros. all this in mind, as well as a wonderful Whiskey selection, and it's one of the best values in Wellington. now keep in mind Windy Wellington isn't the cheapest place in the world, so comparatively it's not too cheap, but in this town, it's well worth it to come here and get a jug of good Kiwi brew. If your In Wellington, this is the liquor store to hit for sure.

Grungy looking shop really. Impressive selection of stuff though. Good wine selection, solid whisky and bourbon selection and nice beer selection.

Now up to 20 taps for Riggers (growlers). Impressive range of NZ tapped stuff. They are a distributor so part why the impressive NZ stuff. Good selection of European stuff, more like the classics really, some US stuff Rogue, Green Flash, Bear Republic (legal) and Sierra Nevada (grey market). Good English selection and a lot of Hardy's. Counted 7 cases. Nice. Big cool room for bottled products.

Impressive service and very helpful. Was pointed to some venues to hit and some not to hit. UMMM the DB supported venues.

Worth a trip as within easy walking distance to everything in Wellington.

The slightly grungy bottleshop is located just off the Basin Reserve in Wellington. They clearly focus on wine with 70% of the store dedicate to grape based beverages but beer makes up the bulk of the rest with an impressive range of local and imported beers. The range is vast including a number of US beers generally found only in select US markets. They also have a decent selection of other options including Thomas Hardy's Ale going back to 2005. For those who are staying a little longer, Regional Wines also has 10 beers available on tap to takeaway in riggers.

The Regional Wines beer guy, Kieran, is knowledgeable and happy to help point customers in the direction of a great beer, most likely of NZ origin. The range of such beers is wide and includes very limited releases from the likes of 8 Wired and Three Boys. Regional Wines is one of the first places in the country to get many beers so if you can't find it here, you likely won't find it elsewhere (except maybe Hashigo Zake).
