Poured a rich, cloudy dark amber color with a thick, persistent head. Slightly chilled just below room temperature. Subtle, fresh aroma.

First taste - overwhelming mouthfeel of sweet pumpkin pie. Spice, sweetness and chewiness are robust, but not unpleasantly so. The aftertaste stays with you long after the first gulp, reinforcing the feeling of just having bitten off a hearty chunk of a pumpkin pie.

After the first sweetness assault the beer gets more agreeable and does not overpower food, provided the latter has its own robust character (I had roasted sausage with spiced braised cabbage).

Overall, I was impressed with this beer and would have it again.

12oz tulip glass at Beer Revolution.

This beer appears somewhat hazy medium tarnished golden yellow colour, with one fat finger of lightly puffy, and tightly foamy eggshell white head, which leaves a wall of Flintstones cave lace around the glass as it evenly recedes.

It smells lightly of semi-sweet pale malt, gritty confectioner's sugar, a faint white wine must fruitiness, and some ethereal grainy woodiness. The taste is much more open and approachable - more moderately sugary pale malt, soft Belgian yeast, a muddled, cold reduced drupe fruitiness, abetted by subtle, yet spicy white grape esters, a touch of wet wood, and a bit of earthy, musty hops.

The bubbles are pretty understated, and mostly just meekly supportive, the body an agreeable enough medium weight, and actually quite smooth, no particular adjunct seeking to overtly disrupt the flow. It finishes off-dry, the malt, yeast, various fruit, and rather sedate white wine barrel notes carrying the day.

A well-rendered Tripel, pretty much irrespective of the presumed Gewurz wine cask treatment. Soft, supple, fruity, and the 19-proof alcohol barely even noticeable. Maybe the barrel effect is more internalized, as I don't recall enjoying the bottled version so readily. Definitely worthy of a try, even if you're iffy on the style, in the vein of yours truly.

Slightly lactic aroma with some fruit and some character that I think is skunking.

Fair clarity, deep straw colour with a fluffy, white head. Good head retention and it dissipates to a thin film.

There are good flavours here with some light spiciness and yeast character as expected in a Tripel. Unfortunately, there is also a harshness to it. There's a tartness which would be okay if there was more spice but the whole thing seems unbalanced and I wonder where the Gewurtztraminer barrel has gone.

Medium-light body with high carbonation.

While I like the idea of the barrel aged Tripel, this doesn't hit the mark and really shouldn't be sold as it doesn't stand up to what the beer should be.
