Pours a murky honey orange with a foamy khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of grain, earth, spice, and slight cardboard aromas. Taste is much the same with slightly tart grain, fruit, spice, and funk flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity and spice bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slight crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that smells a bit old, but the slightly tart flavors are solid.

Pours a hazy golden amber with a small head as poured from an older bottle that has been sitting in the basement awhile. Flavor is still good, has mellowed somewhat from the earlier bottle I had.

everything moa makes is gold. i mean, bottle fermented? not refermented or conditioned, but fully fermented in the bottle. i mean, that takes ab-out the right amount of time to land fresh on our shores here, i think the plan is brilliant, and the beer just as good. i also like how they cork these bottles, very classy for the under 6 dollar price. the nose here is minimal on their claimed coriander. more robust on the belgian front, and certainly one of the more robust moa beers i have put my nostrils to. the flavor is the same. more belgian than herbal, but both are there. yeast is magic, dry as hell champagne fruit, and a carbonation unrivaled by any beer other than moa stuff. its long lasting even though its dry, so its so unique, drinkable, and spicy in a cool way. fun as anything, i like how different it is, and like all of the stuff from these guys, its one of a kind. definitely buy, especially for this price...

Poured in a pilsner glass as recommended by the brewer.

Color: attractive gold color with a 3F head which resolved itself within a few minutes.
Carbonation bubbles from the bottom of the glass.

Aroma: I could smell the aroma with the pour. At first, the aroma was unidentifiable, and very spicy.
After a minute an excellent lemon-coriander. The aroma lingered throughout the tasting.

Mouth feel- very carbonated- enhancing the taste and finish of the beer.

Taste: smooth fruit, orange.

Finish: The beer finishes like a good Belgian golden ale. Spicy and slightly bitter.

Another excellent beer from MOA. A pilsner glass is highly recommended.
The brewery has a different approach- they don't imitate- and deftly combine different tastes to their beers- especially with fruit. This is my favorite beer from the brewer aside from the Imperial Stout.

375ml bottle into a snifter

pours a completely flat copper yellow color. no head. smell is quite big on coriander which im a fan of...so not bad so far. the taste though is meh..very bland and finishes bitter. coriander is light. not impressive at all and tastes flat too with the ABV apparent. medium bodied with 0 carbonation.

overall not a good beer. but it was only 99 cents so im not complaining.

375ml cork and cage bottle poured into a witbier glass. Yeast roused prior to pouring.

A: Hazy golden-orange color. A lively crackling head sputters out instantly. No lacing.

S: Blast of spicy coriander really pops out of the glass. Fragrant orange peel rides right on the heels of the coriander. Lemony wheat snap and creamy wheat aromas barely escape from underneath the ample spicing.

T: Coriander and orange peel romp all over the palate. Creamy wheat provides a nice base, but is drowned in oily orange peel and spicy coriander. Very peppery. Hint of pithy lemon and a slight floral quality. Dusty and earthy yeast barely pokes through. Wheaty finish is still cut by fading coriander and orange peel.

M: Light bodied. Round, frothy, creamy body. Stiff, scrubbing carbonation is not normally found in the style, but the mouthfeel is still very nice.

O: Whoa there fellas, take it easy on the spicing. Tone that back a bit and let the beer come through a little more and you might really have something. Its inability to form and sustain a head was most curious though. Maybe due to an abundance of citrus oils?

375ml caged and corked mini sparkling wine bottle. Can you use the Olympic rings on your label, without the IOC siccing their lawyers on you?

This beer pours a slightly hazy medium golden yellow hue, with a tower of aggressively puffy, thinly foamy, and chunky eggshell white head, which leaves a few broad swaths of chunky, sudsy USSR landmap lace around the glass as it rather slowly abates.

It smells of grainy pale wheat malt, lemon pith, earthy yeast, bubblegum, plain coriander, and leafy, grassy, hops. The taste is more semi-sweet, grainy wheat malt, lemon and orange fleshy fruit, gritty dry yeast, understatedly spicy coriander, and more softly grassy, leafy hops. Simple, it would seem, but in a pleasantly robust way.

The carbonation is quite fizzy, frothy, and playful all at the same time, the body medium-light in weight, and well, hard to deem smooth with all those high-palate bubbles bursting and reforming. It finishes off-dry, the lingering yeast and spice draining just enough sweetness out of the already waning malt.

A decently flavoured witbier, the spice, malt, fruit, and yeast all well balanced, integrated, and pleasing. So why fuck with that, by messing with the bubbles? Any further (expected) nuances from the conditioning are lost in the overwrought fizziness, from cork pop, through the finish, without gap. So tasty, yet hard to drink, within this context.

Poured from a 500 ml bottle into a pint.

A: Deep golden hue. Pours a 2 finger, loose, bubbly, white head. Settles quickly leaving a thick blanket. Slight lacing mostly retreats into the body of the brew. Continually rising effervescence.

S: Wheat, honey, and lemon citrus.

T: Wheat and lemon. A little coriander or maybe clove.

M: Light but full-bodied. Syrupy. Lightly spicy and lemony aftertaste.

D: Can be consumed session style.

Atmosphere is pretty good. Fair head, and some slight lacing. Nose is a well-balanced combination of wheat, honey, and lemon citrus. Tastes like it smells... wheat and lemon with some savory spice. Overall, this is a pretty good quaff.

Pours a pale hazy yellow with a skim head of white foam. No retention.

Some grassy notes in the nose, some mineral notes, and the coriander comes up. A little funky yeast as well.

Yeast, coriander, straw, wheat husk, some bitter grass flavors all rolled up in one. Bitter balances well with other flavors and makes this one decently drinkable. Nice moderate bitter finish.

Lighter bodied, good carbonation.

Pretty decent. Seems like a wit that leans toward a saison.

Pours a slightly hazy golden color with a moderate white head that soon settles into a dormant cap of full coverage. Mild aroma is slightly skunky (green bottle?) with some coriander and hints of grass and citrus. Zesty, perky texture comes to the fore upon tasting; the coriander tastes fresh and lively on the palate. Malt presence is light and neutral, which may only be on account of contrast with especially crisp, effervescent mouthfeel. Some grassiness and light fruit afford complexity as the beer warms, while bubblegum manifests on the back of the palate in the finish. Coriander lingers impressively into the finish without becoming cloying. Some alcoholic heat on the back end adds a bit of moxie to what is otherwise a crisp, refreshing, drinkable beer.

The spice character was a bit topheavy early on but strikes an admirable balance at the proper temperature. Overall, this is a deftly crafted, flavorful witbier that drinks more like a Belgian golden ale. Probably one of the more distinguished and complex examples of the style I've come across.

It poured with a huge head that stayed well, dying down after a while with some lacing.

There was light carbonation in a cloudy, almost rose gold body.

Not much smell, just some wheat.

The taste was of spice & wheat with some tartness.

I like the marketing of this brewery - the beer comes in an attractive bottle with a cork, and the image of the native bird of New Zealand, the Moa, moulded on the glass bottle.

Poured from a 12.7oz cork and cage bottle into a conic pint glass in high elevation Kalispell, Mont. Reviewed live.

A- Excessively highly carbonated. Six finger head with fairly low retention. Shrinks to about two fingers after two minutes. Flat white lacing. Golden body with high carbonation and clarity.

S- Kinda funky cool medina. Grassy, citrus, some cloves (?). Odd aroma for a witbier.

T- Citrusy, grassy and the funk of bottle fermentation. Some coriander and spices here.

M- Light bodied and chewy. Semi-wet finish.

O- Despite looking bad, this is an average beer.

375 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 3/16/2014. Pours moderately hazy golden amber color with a nice 2 finger dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big lemon, pear, orange peel, coriander, floral, wheat, bread, light pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity. Taste of lemon, orange peel, pear, wheat, coriander, floral, bread, pepper, clove, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of citrus peel, light fruits, wheat, coriander, pepper, floral, clove, bread, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Nice flavor balance with good complexity; though it is a bit watery; with zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Quite dry on the finish as well. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth and fairly crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good witbier style. Nice flavor balance and complexity; and extremely smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable and refreshing offering.

Fantastic packaging with a heavy 12 oz dark green bottle that is corked and caged. Embossed beer bottle with a Moa (extinct bird from NZ) on the neck. Black bowtie label. Very expensive looking...and it is! $7 for the 12oz bottle.
Massive white head sits atop this hazy yellow-golden body, but with a quickness shrinks down to a thin white layer.
Smells of a Belgian Witbier with some raw coriander notes and a wheat aroma under that. Not much else to it...some fruitiness from the yeast maybe? Apples and other fruits are present in the nose...
Taste is sharp. Definitely should be smoother, but the coriander comes out well and there is a pleasant finish. Not quite to style though. Not sure what they were going for...an Imperial Witbier? Just not quite elegant enough, since this is rough and not gentle like a witbier should be.
Mouthfeel is high carbonation with some medium bodied tartness. Decent for the style.
This is not a bad beer! It tastes similar to the true Belgian Witbier, but where it differs, I think it falls flat. I felt like they need to reassess what the goal of this beer actually is (Imperial Wit? Belgian Wit? Creative interpretation of Belgian Wit?) and make some adjustments.
Worth a try!

After much hesitation and a push from my local i bought it and it pours a hazed golden straw hue which leaves a creamy three finger head and a rim of lacing,the smell is zesty indeed with aromas of corriander,lemon cheesecake,kaffir lime leaves and spicy wheat,the mouthfeel is medium bodied smooth and creamy which coats the whole mouth with tastes of lemon rind,orange peel,spicy wheat,a hit of corriander which is just right and finished with a mandarin zesty dryness and overall quite a suprise packet and glad i took his word would buy this again cheers.

The Damn thing almost killed me as soon as I unwrapped the cage. It felt like a bullet screamed right past my ear. I forgave it and poured into a tulip.

Pours a clear gold with a hint of orange. Big fluffy white head with big fat bubbles. Faded fairly quickly to leave a half-covering cap of constantly rejuvenating large bubbles. Minimal lacing.
Smells sweet, a tad yeasty with a hint of fruit and booze.
Tastes spicy. Best way I can describe it really. Pretty standard wit/tripel flavor backing it with a distinct spiciness. Interesting for sure.
It has a pretty light crisp feel, with all that deadly carbonation.
Overall pretty nice and interesting enough to have again if I find it.

Nose shows citrus peel, coriander, sweet malt and doughy wheat. Very floral and sweet.
Flavours are less impressive; some coriander and doughy wheat along with citrus peel, but a bit too much booze shows through.
Carbonation is nicely high.

Bottle from Local Provisions. From notes.

A - Poured hazy golden. Strong carbonation. One finger of white head left minor lace and a film of retention.

S - Lot's of citrus. A little spice, yeast and banana. Orange and lemon round out the aroma.

T - Yeast, wheat, orange, lemon, light but recognizable spice. Lovely blending of flavours.

M - Strong carbonation, medium body and a dry finish.

O/D - Quite nice. Not typical of the style, but very pleasant and drinkable. Went down so fast. Really tasty.
