Appearance. Pours a hazy pale gold with three fingers of thick white head with decent retention.

Smell. Lemon zest, honey, pepper, and floral spices with light and sweet wheat in the background. Nice.

Taste. Citrus rinds, floral spice, light wheat and a little pepper in the finish. Slightly sour and quite salty. Very nice.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body, medium+ soft carbonation.

Overall. Not what I would call a Gose by any means aside from the salt, but very nice. Reminds me of Love Buzz and that's a very good thing.

Served in a tulip glass at Hopleaf.

Working my way through my first visit to Hopleaf with a brand new Italian gose. Yeah, it's like that. It pours a very cloudy sunset straw topped by a finger of white foam. The nose comprises grass, apple juice, cracked wheat, black pepper, and light lemon zest. The taste holds notes of tart-ish tangerine zest, wheat, coriander, cardamom, and a touch of saltiness. The body is a hefty light, with a light moderate carbonation and a fairly dry finish. Overall, a nice take on the style, one that goes heavier on the salt and spices than traditional versions, but one that's ultimately pretty refreshing and enjoyable.

On-tap at Beachwood I,

A: Pours gold with a very light fizzy head, small amounts of lace.

S: Notes of bready malt with a hint of lactic acid, lemon.

T: Tastes like a lot of pilsner malt, Euro lager like until the end when the gose character comes offering light salt and acuid.

M: Light-bodied, crisp, a clean refreshing beer.

O: This really doesn't go hard core into gose territory, this is more like an introduction. That's OK, it's still a good beer, but I was left wanting more.

Probably a good representation of a gose, but it is not a style I enjoy. Worth trying, nonetheless.
