went during Mn Craft Beer Week, so the place was busy to say the least. You could kind of tell that they are not used to this typr of volume, but I really can't complain about any real aspect. They do serve food, from what I saw around looked tasty and smelled wonderful, I just did not have any myself.
We arrived right around 9:00 to a packed bar and dining area. Made our way to the bar and got service in a reasonable time considering how busy they were. Great selection, it was GI night so there were quite a few of their choices available. Grabbed a beer and headed to a table with other BA's.
Service at the table was adequate. There was not a lot of room to get around in, much less carrying cocktails. Was checked on constantly and was served in a reasonable time (being as busy as they were).
Overall, I want to re-visit very soon. Want to get a more adequate review once the craziness has died down. Based on this experience, I will mos def go back. Thank you Megan (chixdighops) for having such a great beer destination.

Pracna - thanks to BA for the heads-up!

This is located in an older building hard by the river. There is a nice view of the river and the downtown skyline out the front windows. I like this part of the city, it seems to be both isolated yet popular.

As you enter, there are about a dozen small tables. The bar seats about 8 and then there are more expansive seating areas in back and to the right of the kitchen. There is lots of exposed brick and high ceilings.

Bartender was friendly and knew the beer list. They are very free with samples which I really appreciated. I didn’t even ask for samples, but must have been given 5 or 6!

20 taps, 3 imports, Mich Golden, a root beer and 15 crafts. I thought there were lots of Good choices.

Food is tasty and the menu has some nice options.

This is well worth a stop. I wish I would have known about this place sooner!

Pracna is a solid place overall. It usually has a nice tap list with a good selection. The space is beautiful and the location is hard to beat. Service is typically slow but friendly. The food is decent but expensive. They don't have any cheaper bar offerings. What keeps me going is their happy hour. They often have several very good beers on tap and they have a nightly happy hour where all craft taps are $3. One of the best happy hours around.

Went this evening, what a neat little place. The weather just warmed up a few days ago so the patio was a must.
Several tables with comfortable chairs lines the walk overlooking the river and the brick road. Plenty of terrific people watching here. Enough noise from passing cars and white noise from the river allowed for conversation that the close table's nearby could not eavesdrop your every word.
But its not noisy either.
The beer selection is very good, many craft options to choose from as well as local offerings. Prices are actually quite good, average price is $4.00
We had 4 beers and the total was $20. And RIS from Fulton kinda tipped the price scale a bit.
Wait staff is quick to return noticing empty glasses and providing great service. I did not eat but the food that other people had ordered looked tasty and smelled pretty damn good.
Inside it was decorated nicely with wood paneling and hard wood floors, typical of a 100 year + industrial building. Big wondows inside looking out upon the views. The exterior tables were lit from the dimmed building exterior lighting.
Bathrooms are a bit of a jog and were kind of dirty.

All in all a great place with a destination beer lineup. Definatly would return here.

Pracna has made its way up to being a very nice place to get some geeky brews. It used to be a balance between domestic and craft, with a couple Belgians. No more. The shift to craft options, and updated ones at that, has taken over this wonderful spot. Last night I was there and they had on tap Surly Abrasive, Summit Imperial Pumpkin Porter, Bell's Batch 10000, Deschutes Red Chair Pale Ale, Deschutes Jubelation, Lagunitas Brown Shugga, and the coup de grace, Goose Island Dominique, a Belgian Sour aged in bourbon barrels (amazing by the way). There were several more options that I don't remember. And one lonely Michelob Golden Light tap. In the past they did a Deschutes Abyss release night, and they were one of two places int eh state to get Dissident. Pretty stellar in my opinion. The food is pretty good, not spectacular and a little pricey. The beer is subject to a late night happy hour, every night, where every tap craft domestic is 3 bucks. Pretty solid.

Made my way over with a couple of friends after the Gophers game to try some Oktoberfest beers. They had a special for five 5 oz. beers which were all different Oktoberfest beers. 10 different ones in all with several other nice taps including Furious, Summit and others. Sat outside under big trees looking towards downtown and the river. Inside of the bar was really cool. Old and rustic, it made for a nice atmosphere. Our server was awesome. He checked in regularly and kept us served. Prices seemed fair for the area. I would go back again.

My family and I visit here every New Year's Eve day. The atmosphere is so cool. High tables and high chairs in a dark narrow front room. The food is always good. It can be greasy bar food, but it is good greasy bar food. They always have good beers on tap and in bottles. Frequently have Bell's and some nice offerings from Colorado. They usually have some nice Belgian beers. Once I had a Delirium Tremens served in a Delirium glass with an elephant on the side. It's just a cool place for a beer and a bite to eat.

Pracna is among several riverfront bars and restaurants just across the river from Downtown in Northeast Minneapolis. But unlike the other establishments, Pracna carries with it a fair amount of history. From the looks of the place it hasn't changed too much over time, and its décor runs the gamut, from burnished leather to folk art and breweriana. It's unclear to what end the décor is intended, but I've always found it the perfect antidote to an era of plasma-screen bedecked sports bars and ultra lounges. Most of the time the place is fairly laid-back, but the dimly-lit, almost laconic atmosphere that I enjoy definitely picks up pace in the evening. The sidewalk service area is particularly popular during the summer months, and makes Pracna an appealing stop on a riverfront stroll. But for us craft beer enthusiasts it’s their beer selection that is of primary interest, and their late night happy hour features very good prices on a nice selection of craft beer. Not surprisingly, it’s also at this time that the area's young adults turn out in force! Of their twenty taps, over half are dedicated to craft and specialty beer, including three Belgian ales. The other taps are split between domestic and imported specialties. Although the place is fairly small, they go through a lot of draft beer thanks to the happy hour special, and regularly offer seasonal beers in the tap line-up. Their list of bottled beer also offers twenty choices, including five Belgian ales and a half-dozen craft and specialty brews. Although Pracna feels much more like a bar than a restaurant, their menu offers a traditional rather than contemporary take on upscale dining, with prices at the upper end of `reasonable' (a small list of appetizers is priced likewise, but are more acceptably-portioned). A small but well-chosen wine list serves to compliment this menu, and liqueurs, ports, and dessert wines are available, in addition to a small selection of scotch and premium branded spirits. Service has always been good overall, but it’s at its best when you find a couple of seats at the small bar. The bartenders are very down-to-earth, and have remained consistent in recent years. I frequented Pracna regularly when I worked in the neighborhood, and as a beer guy myself had always felt that its ambience called out for a low-key, unpretentious Beer Bar. I’d often share my thoughts on such with the staff, and one way or another I'm happy to see that it happened - the beer selection has greatly improved recently. If you ever find yourself in Northeast Minneapolis for a ‘bar-crawl’, this place is certainly worth checking out.
