Pours a clear redish amber color with a thin off-white headskie. Very simple and easy to drink. Hops are quite light and offer balance. Really, nothing special here, but this would make a wonderful session beer as it does taste good and goes down easy... also, so nice that it's organic. More brewers should follow Vermont's example.

A) Copper colored. Pours with very little head, but has visible carbonation.
S) Floral hop aroma with a caramel-like sweetness.
T) Sweet that mellows out to finish with an earthy bitterness. There is a touch of spiciness in the aftertaste.
M) Crisp up front then a dry middle ending with a fizzy creaminess.
D) A good organic brew. Very on par with the style.

12oz bottle, best by march 09
very surprisingly dark copper color. clear. big, light tan head is bubbly but fades to just wisps and a thin, incomplete, sudsy ring. splotchy but very sparse lacing.
aroma is toffee, caramel and dark toasted malts, with hint of esters and diacetyl. grassy hop is quite mild. metallic whiff.
flavor has very caramelized malt, almost hinting of brown sugar. trace of apple fruitiness and yeast fermentation. mild to moderate hop bitterness, with dry, leafy and grassy tones. more hint of malty caramel in the off-dry finish.
not to thin. trace of acidic texture in the finish. lively carbonation.
caramel is nice, but seems slightly overdone for the style?

Orlio common ale offers an almost perfect combination of light caramel sweetness, delicate yeasty fruitiness, and mild leafy hoppiness.
It's slightly hazy copper body (bottle conditioned) and frothy head of off-white foam welcome you, as does the soft, delicately sweet aroma.
In the mouth it delicately bristles the tongue with a very fine bubbled natural carbonation. Medium-light in body.
The flavor offers a variety of flavors including caramel, brown cake, soft berries, apple, and spicy, leafy, and mildly grassy hops.
And it's organic!

I enjoyed this beer.. a nice solid beer to have, nothing special but just good. Has a great creamy mouthfeel to it and taste is very 'wet'... nice aftertaste to it as well that is well balanced. While it could have a bit more flavor, it went down way too easy and I could definitely go for another one. The fact that its organic I can really care less about.. but I like this style and I like this beer.

Dark Amber color. One Finger head that becomes paper thin quickly.
Aroma is malty, bready, a little bit of dark dried fruit. Subtle funkiness.
Taste is pretty interesting. Raisin and biscuit. Sweet caramel, contrasted by some hot metal. Medium-bodied with a stiff, semi-sweet finish. On the edge of "cloying" for my tongue.
Mouthfeel is a tad abrasive. The medium body is wrapped with too much carbonation. True to the style, but still doesn't settle as well.
Very respectable session beer.

Pours a brassy/coppery color, maybe I missed the head while I was rinsing out the bottle, but it's down to a fine floating film now, a few dots of lace around the glass. Faint citrusy hops, a bit of that generic/vague "beery" smell, grainy/bready. Taste is mellow caramel sweetness, faint grapefruit bitterness, slightly herbal/floral quality. On the light side of medium-bodied, pretty low level of carbonation, but it's working for me....I could drink these all the damn time! I like this.

Appearance- It a dark amber with a little bit of a red hue. The head and lace were both thin.
Smell- The smell was citrus and candy like. It was like there were tones of sugar and grapefruit or orange.
Taste- The taste was a little bread like but followed by a hoppy floral/citrus taste. It has a earthy aftertaste.
Mouthfeel- I felt that it was smooth going down and full bodied.
Drinkability- Average.

Pours Amber colored with Ruby hints and has a tiny almost non existent head that melts away like an ice cube on a 100 degree day.
The aroma is malts, hops and some grains. The taste is sweet with fruit tones and a caramel flavor. There are some grassy notes as well with bread character. It sort of ends with a watered down taste.
The feel is medium to low carbonation and a mild tingly finish. It is smooth with some creamy touches, but it falls short. A common ale is the right way to describe this. Very common indeed.
Notes:
My measuring stick for this style is Anchor California steam beer and the difference between the two is day and night. This beer needed better balance, more carbonation. Yet this still seemed like the type of beer I would not mind having every now and then as long as I do not pay for it.

On tap at Vermont brewpub. Floral hoppy. Light orange with big soapy head. Creamy, above average mouthfeel. Good bitterness without the high IBU.Drinkability is good for those who haven't lost their taste buds to salt. Not everybody gets the carbonation right.

Poured a fairly clear copperish amber with a thin slightly off white head. Lots of tight bubbled carbonation rising to the surface
Caramel malts, honey and some citric hops. There is a bit of a wet newspaper / cardboard smell.
Taste is biscuity and carmelly with some hop bite and a bit of pepper on the finish.
medium bodied, a decent amount of carbonation, a bit prickly on the front of the tongue, carbonation mellows a bit but stays through the finish. Leaves saliva very viscous, pretty damn dry too, made want to grab a glass of water almost instantly.
Not a bad beer but not one I'll be running back to anytime soon

Reddish honey orange with streams of fine bubbles rising up to a half inch of finely bubbled white head that lingers long.
Aroma of biscuity malt and some grassy notes.
Flavor fairly matches the aroma, malty a little doughey and bready, some fine floral and grassy notes. Not detecting the usual ringwood, but maybe that won't be a component of this organic subsidiary.
Mouthfeel is full and creamy, fills the mouth, finishes with a tingle.
Tasty, good representation of the style, very sessionable. Reminds me of an Oktoberfest. Having trouble understanding some of the reviews saying its bland or timid - read the style guide.

This is a nice one in my book...I'm not quite sure why there's not much love for this one...or for Magic Hat, for that matter.
Appearance: Cloudy bronze, a thin head that dissipates fairly soon. Probably its weakest link in my book.
Nose: For me, a classic/generic "Beer Festival Aroma". Malt leads into grassy hops, the smell of springtime. A bit of stale hay and grape leaves are lurking in there as well.
Taste: A slight acidic bite fades into a mild floral/grass bouquet, with a sweet-tart finish (is that a citrus tang at the end?)
Palate: "Slinky" -- smooth, tart, and a bit of a bubbly snap.
Overall: A great everyday brew, one I'd class as a strongish (5%) Lawnmower Brew. Nothing spectacular, but likewise nothing offensive, either. Plus, it's organic! I'm hoping to see more and a wider variety of organic offerings in the near future. I'm tired of worrying about GM corn sugars in my beer.

Short Version:
Flimsy beer. Light and malty with a non-bitter tanginess. There's an artificial chemical zip to it that turns me off.
Details:
Quite attractive 12oz bottle boasting it's USDA Organic stamp with pride and bravado. Large artistic "O" for the emblem with a duece of our 15th letter in the name too. Kicks it off and closes her down. O-r-l-i-O. They were even so lucky as to have a pair of them in the beer style itself. cOmmOn Ale.
I'm all for the organic movement. Primarily for salads and table vegetables though. Because let's face it... whether it's organic corn or just regular corn... it still makes the beer taste like a Budweiser.
I'm trying hard to find something about this beer that I like but I just can't get any of the dropdowns to cross the average barrier. It's below average in almost every category.
It pours a nice light-medium amber color. The 1" offwhite head was fast, fizzy, and faded. Dropped to almost nothing quickly. Thin film in 30 seconds. Thin outer ring in 90 seconds and absolutely nothing in 3 minutes. Carbonation activity is sluggish at best. Fine sediment floating around but not much of it.
The smell was of mild hop, light sugar, and unfortunately some skunky hints of american macro or dishwater.
Taste is malt forward with a thin body. There's an unidentifiable mild fruitiness lurking underneath the chemical-like tang. Finish is a little dry with a flat sweetness to it.
Perhaps the Loose Cannon Hop3 Ale I had earlier this evening has spoiled me. I want to like this beer better but I'm struggling to find something to work with. I'm glad I bought it as a single. Otherwise there's plenty in my fridge to divert my attention from the remaining 5 for a long time.
I'm disappointed in Magic Hat. I like their Roxy Rolles so much I figured they were a quality brewer all the way around. They dropped the ball on this Orlio line though. At least the common ale. Run away.

I'll preface this by saying the bottle is marked best by Feb 08, so this beer is nearly past its drink-by age. That said...
A: A vigorous pour into a pint glass left little head, and what there was didn't stick around long. The color is a clear, ruddy amber.
S: This may be a california common ale, but the aroma epotimizes everything I dislike about lagers. There's a strong vegetative odor (DMS?) that overrides everything. The hops smell faintly like old, sweaty clothes.
T: This beer tastes like a macro lager on steroids. All the good and bad qualities are merely amplified. There is more of a malt body and slightly more hop bite than a lager, but the dryness and astringency I associate with pale lagers is also more noticable.
M: Ok... not much to say here.
D: I'd put this in the "lawnmower beer" category. It's nothing I want to spend an evening with, but if I'm hot, and its available, I'd drink it.

Pours a full amber orange with a fairly creamy looing, small bubbled head that is off white in color. But is that trub I see at the bottom of the glass?? Hmm. Aroma is simple--spicy hops and subtle sweetness-- but smells good to me. Taste solid, malty with a subtle sweetness, hops are in the background, it's certainly an American brew but booring not just due to low hops, but it's not complex in the malts, and possibly too sweet? Rather clean though. MF is good, medium weight and fair carbonation. This is a fine beer but it doesn't win the amber spot...in my fridge like I'd hoped. It may have at one time, but it's too boring for me.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle to a pint glass, the liquid is a rich dark gold with good carbonation. The head is 2 fingers fluffy off white foam and lots of lace as well as good retention.
The smell is good, bready and slightly nutty.
The taste is good, nice smooth rich bready malt, some nutty after taste as well and a good balancing hop.
The mouthfeel is good for the style if not a tad thick, nice carbonation.
The drinkability is good, not reall delisious, but good.

Pours a clear darker brown amber with no head. Nose is a bit like wet wood with some caramel mixed in there and a sugary tone to it. Flavor is a bit like a wet cardboard, but not so much in a totally negative thing. It just has a flavor of a type of wood with a sweet tone. Kind of a thinner caramel flavor. The wood is a bit too stringent and too much. Throws it off balance and nothing helps it get back up. Feel is okay. Drinkability is...okay. I am not really too impressed here. Decent, but not worth going to at all really. Unless you're an organic freak.

Got this the other day in a mix pack that I got in a Yankee Holiday present holiday swap. The brew poured to a copper color that was quite cloudy and had a fair sized light tan head that dis not have much in the way of retention and did not leave any lacing. The aroma was nice, nothing overly complex but clean. Toasted malt and fruit like scent seems to come out with a nice hop scent that is in great balance. The taste again is not overly complex but the malt flavors come out with a crisp hop flavor that is more floral to me than citrus. Quite dry feel. Malt has a slight sweet feel. Overall this is a good brew, while not being exotic or anything like that. It is an easy drinker and a good effort from Magic Hat. Will get this one again in the future for an easy/tasty drinking brew.
