Been here once. Not bad, typical UT stuff.

One of the better places and SLC, and perhaps the best place in the 'burbs (Sandy area). Good selection of local craft drafts, open somewhat late, and it has a somewhat modern brewpub like feel, perhaps with the logcabin influence. On my visits they only had the 3.2% Utah beers. I'm not aware that they have normal strength beers in bottles, if they do. Prices seem a wee bit high but it is a fairly nice area there at the base of the canyon. Not uncommon to see exotic cars here. Breakfast/brunch is alright too. Wish they had more vegetarian options.

One of the best locations in the Salt Lake Valley. Just at the mouth of Big Cotton Canyon, and it shares a parking lot with the Canyon Inn Tavern. The Porcupine has a great selection of beer. Most of the local breweries are available on tap here, so you'll have trouble making up your mind (not a bad thing). I was very pleased that they carried Red Rock Nut Brown Ale. Also they have one of the most breath taking views from their patio. It looks over the northern part of the Salt Lake Valley.
The service is good, nothing wrong with it, most of the servers are ski bums, and very nice. The food is very good, I always go with the Big Cottonwood Burger. The food is very good and spicy, the burrito is very big and felling and taste good after a day of skiing or in my case hiking.
Best enjoyed with a lot of friends all dirty from the mountains.
Enjoy!

Walking into the Porcupine after wandering around Utah is a truly beautiful experience. The long line of beer taps behind the bar could likely cause a beer drinker to shed a tear. It's one of the most inviting things I've seen in a long time. If it's brewed in Utah, odds are good that it's on tap here. Even harder to find beers like the excellent Wasatch Hefeweizen are available.
The Porcupine Pub and Grille is located right against the mountains, at the mouth of Big Cottonwood canyon. It's definitely a skier's hangout, and has a really fun lodge atmosphere. The menu is diverse and spicy. I've never had standout service at the Porcupine but it might just be chance. The food is decent though, just what you would want after a day on the slopes.
If you're a beer drinker in Utah, you owe it to yourself to visit the Porcupine. Otherwise you're missing out.

24 Beers on draft! $2 pints every Tuesday, allday long! Great staff and close to the Cottonwood Canyons. It is nice to go into an establishment in Utah and not have to worry about being a member or having to order food, just so you can be served a pint! The bar has about a dozen stools plus it has a few rails and chairs. The wings are excellent, just be careful of the Hellfire sause. They do half price apps from 2:30-5:00 m-f and there is always a smiling face or two to be seen, in the winter keep an eye out for pro athletes and groupies.
Peace off!
