I finally got to make a stop here recently. I've liked their brews a long time, and was happy to get to the brewery. Small, cozy taproom, and there was a table in the brewery the day we were there, so that's where we sat. The bartender had a broken foot, but got around well anyway (get better soon Kim!). Awesome small beer garden outside. Definitely worth the brief detour off I-90.
Plus, if you're a Northern Exposure fan, you'll want to see town anyway. I didn't see a moose walking down the street, sadly.

This place should definitely be on your to-go list for Roslyn. Pick up a growler before you go camping or up north along the Cle Elum River, bring one back home after you leave the town. It's a very nice local joint that has decent (if hilly!) outdoor seating, as well as a small indoor bar with a few tables. The beer is good! I especially like the Belgian Ale. I just wish they offered more than an 80% lager menu of beers, but I can also understand that at a small brewery like this it might make sense. Locals rave about the root beer, but to my untrained palate it tastes just like Barq's.

I passed through Roslyn and stopped at the brewery while traveling.
Atmosphere is marginal. It s a 12 seat tasting room, with a copper bar top, and some old pictures of Roslyn on the wall. Roslyn is an interesting place, an old mining town, and I knew a little about it before I arrived.
Quality of the Roslyn beers is good.
Service was marginal. The lady pouring beer was watching TV and didn't seem to like being bothered with the likes of me. She wasn't interested in talking about the beer or the town, which is kind of a must in a touristy tasting room.
Selection: Two Roslyn beers and a rootbeer.
Food: N/A
Value is good. $3.25 a pint.
Frankly you can get both Roslyn beers in The Brick just down the street, which has better atmosphere, better service, and it's cheaper during happy hour. You can buy the beers in the store across the street from The Brick, and probably a few other places in town as well. So I'd recommend skipping the brewery and just going to to The Brick instead.

I've never owned a television in my life. Yet as soon as I got to Roslyn I thought the place looked familiar. It's a picturesque mountain town with the usual history of mining and logging, decay and resurgence. But as soon as you see the Roslyn Café with that one-hump camel on the wall, you say to yourself, "Wait a minute. Where have I...?" The answer is Northern Exposure.
Kitty-corner from the Roslyn Café is the Roslyn Brewing Company. They are rumored to be formulating plans for expansion into a full-blown brewpub. But for now Roslyn brews just two beers - both lagers - and their tasting room is only open two or three days a week, depending upon the season. Expansion might be a good idea. The town of Roslyn has recently incorporated a luxury resort condo lodge golf course conference center thing. Seems a tad out of place in Roslyn but I imagine it's good for business.
Meanwhile the Roslyn tasting room has just a bar with free pretzels but no sit down dining. Best bet is to enjoy your beer out in the garden. But there's no door leading to the garden so you'll need to exit through the front door. And since you can't legally take a glass of beer out the front door, you'll need to hand it back to the bartender who will pass it to you through an open window, speakeasy style. I like it.
With just two beers on their menu, Roslyn has the smallest lineup of any brewery in the state. An IPA is rumored to be in the works. Meanwhile I recommend the Brookside Pale lager to the eponymous Roslyn Beer, a schwarzbier. Both beers are available in bombers to go and at better beer retailers in the area.

After tasting their dark lager at a beer festival I had to stop by this brewery. They currently make two beers regularly, a pale lager and a dark lager. This is a nice little place in the heart of the Cascade mountains. The town was the location for Norther Exposure and you can visit the cafe with moose mural and the Brick - one of the oldest bars in the state and a main set of the TV series.
When you walk in you are greeted by warm wood and copper, historic black and white photos, a funky little display brew house with a copper boiler made for great atmosphere. A small, simple shoe box shaped place with a nice bar and in-house rootbeer on tap. The brew house is soon to be replaced by a much larger Newlands system, about 15 bbls, so I look forward to wider distribution of some well made lager beers.
The bar tender told me a bit about the history of the coal mining town, and weather: cumulative snow totals can reach 14 feet. So I got a bit nervous when it began dumping snow outside. . . She was one of the most friendly bartender's I've meet lately, gave me a short tour of the place and when I left I had directions and a small plate of Christmas cookies for the road.
One downside is no food, thought they do allow you to bring in your own and have a very nice beer garden next to the brewery where people actually picnic in the summer - I'll have to return then to check it out.
The other downside was the bottled beer. White the draft products were very well made session beers, the two bottles of pale lager I bought (Brookside Lager) smelled and tasted slight of vinegar. The first thing I thought of was dying eggs for Easter. One bottle was strong enough that my brother dumped it out. The dark lager (Rosyln Beer) was fine.
I know it is very difficult to bottle beer and have it travel well, but I bought these at the brewery. This is a small operation and the bartender told be they are bottling by hand, unfortunately they are hurting the brand rather than helping to spread the word when selling bottles that smell and taste of vinegar. That being said I will look for this beer on draft and support the brewery whenever I can. I am glad I stopped in.
