From the great long neck bottle into a Sam Adam's pint glass (thank you Beer-bash 2011)
Visual (5): Incredible looking lager. Golden hue that is lighter at the bottom of the glass and darker at the top. Very active carbonation over the entirety of the glass. White pillow-y head that lasts and leaves a nice lacing on the glass. Low clarity and foggy. Looks extremely inviting.
Aroma (3.5): Hay & grain malts with a presiding light fresh hop; almost pine-y. Smells very crisp.
Taste (4): Malty lager flavour with a great striking hop balance. The hops are present, as they should be in a pilsener, and give a fresh flavour that is reflective of the nose. Hops tend to hint at almost a fruity bitterness, with the taste lasting on the sides of the tounge
Mouthfeel (3): Mainly dry with a crisp initial touch. Watery overall, but not too easily drinkable. Withholds some complexities on the pallet that are missed in other macro-pilseners.
Overall (4): A pilsener I would have again, if not for the fantastic appearance but also the subtle complexity and fresh flavours. Although not a direct emulation of the Czech style, a fantastic rendition of it.

On tap at crowded Venice restaurant. Neat bottle shape. Strong head. Quintessential Italian pilsner.

pours a cloudy yellow gold body with a cream colored frothy big-bubbled foam head that has moderately high retention, leaving slathered webs of lacing behind as it settles to a murky cap with a semi-rocky halo
aroma is slightly sweet, mostly creamy lager malt with pungent herbal hop wings that shortly fade back into the malt
taste is (weirdly enough) creamy hop??? with a shade of bright fruit and melon and lager malt.
feel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation, running smooth throughout, if not a little on the creamy side with a bright fruit finish and aftertaste.
overall:
this one sticks out with an odd offering in the feel and overall taste of the brew. i've never quite had a brew that could be easily described as a "creamy hop" variety, but here I am confronted with the very reality of it. the feel is also unique in the overall smoothness - near-oatmeal-like really - which brightens up in its fruity offerings for the aftertaste. all that being said, I could easily pick this out from a lineup, I feel like, which really adds to the experience. the downside? pricetag. this would be a gamechanger at a $10/sixer offering, yet the single bottle cost me nearly half that at a single glass offering.
if you'd like to splurge on a creamy, hoppy lager - look no further. it went splendidly with a few creamy/gouda cheese offerings and I longed for a full pack for sure.

No can date
Pours a very large fizzy foamy 2+finger head with moderate retention, no lacing, hazy deep golden tan color
Nose sweet pilsner malt, cereal, grain, little bready, light floral herbal hops
Taste more grainy sweet pilsner malt, grainy cereal, little doughy, lighter to med herbal floral hops with med bitterness ramping a bit on the dry finish with more spicy herbal hop flavors lingering, long bitter finish
Mouth is med to a bit lighter bod, med to a bit higher frothy carb
Overall decent pilsner

This one pours a clear golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like doughy malt, slightly spicy hops, fresh cut grass, lemon, and crackers.
This is just super well done and super drinkable, with a really refreshing bitterness to it. It's lemony, and slightly doughy, with a pleasant but not overwhelming sweetness.
This is lighter bodied, but not thin - just quite lean, with a great drinkability.
I guess this is an unfiltered Italian pilsner, and this sort of thing is going to be absolutely straight down the middle for me.

Cloudy, golden color. Excellent head. Good initial blanketing lace.
A bit earthy smell.
The flavor is improved but still very dry with a bitter bite. Fuller bodied with a higher carbonation level. Long after taste.

Interesting, but not likable. Not being a hop-head, I can't wax enthusiastic about their use in style that is probably more about malt than hops. But, ViaEmilia was refreshing.
I've never seen a head this mountainously fluffy. (I almost went and got a spoon so I could get to the beer.) Mostly floral, then I get grassy and finally some sweet malt. Tastes are largely the same, but finishes bone dry... I presume from the dry-hopping. Feel has good bubbles, but the bitterness hangs on too long for me. Finally,ViaEmilia shares an unfortunate characteristic of too many Italian beers: "interesting" does not justify the price here. Twice I've had ViaEmilia. I'm done.
This is listed in the "1001 Beers You Must Taste Before You Die" and the reviewer told Del Ducato's interesting story and suggested a goat cheese to go with Via Emilia... probably a good pairing I won't ever have.
