Reviewed from notes as this was enjoyed by me back on Sunday 8/24/08.

Had this on-tap recently at La Cav Du Vin. The bartender, who is quite knowledgeable about beer indeed (especially about the ones served where he works), told me this beer is at Italian take on a pale ale, and did not say anything about it being a Czech style pilsener. Served to me in a tulip glass. Draws a fairly cloudy, solid medium golden color with a white head a good inch thick when served, settling to a good 1/2 inch. Lots of little bubbles rising up the top of the beer. Great head retention and lacing. Aromas of hops, citrus, and perhaps some hints of maple or brown sugar. Maybe a hint of banana. Cascade hop bitterness flavors upfront followed by some roasted malty sweetness and hints of maple and brown sugar. Has a very dry aftertaste. Also a very slight touch of spice present. Has a slightly crisp, very creamy, frothy light to medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Easy to drink. Good stuff. Certainly unique to this palate and totally unlike any Czech style pilsener I have ever had before, which is why I certainly question if that is indeed the correct style for this beer to be classified as, as it currently is in this website's database.

The beer menu at Max's refers to this as a dry hopped pale lager, but I'm pretty sure it's the same beer described here.

My impression was that this would likely be akin to some typical american style macro swill, but in fact it looks a bit better then that. The beer pours a light gold color with surprisingly good head retention and lacing. The nose is also a bit better then your typical macro lager, though not a lot better. Still, aside from the predictable corn aroma, I also get some intriguing ginger and wheat. The flavors generally replicate the nose, though in all fairness it's not half bad. The beer is surprisingly flavorful, and is also very crisp and refreshing. There is also a slight honey component along with the ginger and white pepper.

While nothing special, I enjoyed this beer. It was very crisp and refreshing, and would be an excellent choice to quench one's thirst after a warm day of yard word or, yes, mowing the lawn. Not bad at all...

Pours a slightly fogged orange gold with a sizeable off-white head that falls fairly quickly and leaves no lacing at all.

Nose is slight dough and minor fruits.

Flavor is basically like a standard old lager. Seems like there is an inky aftertaste, which isn't all too inspiring. Minor biting citrus on there. Seems a bit "dirty" really. Something about it makes me think of octopus ink, but not in a good way. And I have had that before on ceviche and it was nice. This is just, bleh.

Feel has a bit of a biting carbonation that seems to keep attacking even after I have finished my sip.

Overall this is a mediocre beer at best. With such a seriously thought out bit of packaging, you really need to be focusing on delivering a good beer. Especially for the price.

This beer has ended my long standing habit of buying whatever beers are out there regardless of price. If I am going to be dropping such serious coin on something, the brewery really needs to deliver.

Straw colored yellow, decent head, some bubbles. Appearance quite carbonated.
In the smell acacia hony, herbal notes, quite hoppy and fresh. Some floreal notes, also. Artisanal, in the positive way.
Quite hoppy taste, with some unripeness hint (green nuts?). Again acacia honey, a lot, but all well balanced by the hop fresh notes.
Very clean, fresh, drinkable.
