pours a slightly hazy orange-amber with an off-white head that sticks for a bit and leaves some lace. nose is well-integrated ginger and green peppercorn on top of oak, a slight funk, bright citrus, some malty sweetness, flowers and earth. taste follows suit and exhibits undercurrents of sour and funk, but it's if they were meant to be there. spicy finish with a warming sensation that seems to well up in a gingery green peppercorn kind of way and meld with a tiny bit of a hop kick and barrel notes. spices seem to amp up and play off of the oak. medium body with soft carbonation and a silky feel. very nice. good harmony. definitely not overpowered by the drie.

Pours a very hazy and very dark orange color that's almost brown with apricot colored edges and a two finger frothy, off-white head.  Excellent retention, only slowly fading into a thick, lasting ring.  Large chunks of soapy lacing left behind.  Some noticeable yeast sediment even with a careful pour.  Still looks great though.

Earthy, funky aroma with zesty spice, crisp fruit, barnyard character, dry oak and subtle acetic vinegar. Really nice blend of saison on lambic characteristics.  Lambic is a small portion of blend but is really strong in the nose.  Saison notes of peppery spice, flower petal, barnyard funk and bready yeast.  Citrus and light fruit notes with some apricot, orange peel and grapefruit.  Nice and musty with lactic acid and funky bugs but the lambic notes don't overpower the saison character .

Medium bodied with a tart puckering mouthfeel and and a nice balance of saison notes with a touch of lambic.  Earthy funk with barnyard must, straw and hay with zesty spice, flower petal and sweet acetic acidity.  Lots of coriander and pepper followed by funky farmhouse yeast, orange peel, curaçao and grapefruit before finishing with dry acetic acid and other lambic notes.  Dry and funky with oak and a lingering, subtle acetic vinegar flavor that leaves me wanting more.

i have seen bottle of this here and there, but the nearly 40 dollar sticker has kept me away this long. the nuovo mattina blended with 3f lambic, pretty cool. i wonder what the ratio is, as this beer isnt insanely sour, but does have a nice oaky wild funky bite, a lot of character coming from the lambic, but in perfect harmony with an already stellar base beer. i think it lightens up the body a lot, i liked the big body of the base beer, but this is a nice feature, makes it feel a lot more delicate. notes of sour lemons come right out, and oddly enough the spicy ginger root aspect is really amplified in this version. feels much more mature too, far drier and the wheat seems more broken down, decayed a little but in a good way. not so fresh and dense. refreshing as they come too, effervescent carbonation and a very light body on it. boldly flavored, and frankly not like anything else on the market. this is one of those beers, that for as often as ducato has missed, and missed expensively, beers like this force me to return to their portfolio, its special and probably worth the price. if people are dropping 40 or 50 bucks on 3f fruited stuff, this makes good sense where its at. make an effort to find this one if this is your jam, you certainly will not be disappointed.

The color of the beer is light yellow and cloudy with a medium-thin head that does not dissipate completely, leaving a thin layer of foam on the top. The aroma is an encyclopedic compilation of what you would find in other examples of the style. A floreal aroma is mixed with the tartness, lavender and lemon curd upfront. Tasting the beer, these two components evolve together on the palate, the floreal one transforming into a slightly metallic/bitter taste and the citrous aroma reemerging in the aftertaste. There is a somewhat viscosity in the mouthfeel of this beer where the carbonation is a little subdued. This is a very enjoyable and very refreshing product. Extremely well made.

750ml teardrop bottle, 6.2% ABV. From the Italian label: a blend of the New Morning saison, and Drie Fonteinen's contributory lambic, subsequently aged for 18 months in the bottle.

This beer pours a hazy, sparsely pepper speck-strewn medium golden amber hue, with two fingers of dense and thickly foamy eggshell white head, which leaves some consistent blocky, mesa-esque lace around the glass as it gradually sinks away.

It smells of sour fruit, a bit of cherry and apple identifiers, with an underlying white cereal graininess, and a soft funky yeastiness. The taste displays nice floral, honeyed pale malt, and a much more moderated tartness, with the fruitiness dropping away a tad, letting the yeast character grow in kind. The funky earthiness is given almost free rein, amongst a clattering mineral note, that does little beyond, oh, providing the distraction that keeps things quite relatively sane.

The carbonation is softly frothy, the body a subtle middleweight, yet edgy and prickly at the same time, laying waste to the prospect of outright smoothness. It finishes a little more sweet than one would expect, bit still in the realm of the nicely sour lambic family.

A blend of an Italian farmhouse ale and hipster-friendly Belgian lambic. Works for me, the saison softness taking the edge off of an overly (big surprise) influential sour ale astringency. In the end, a pretty drinkable baby Frankenstein - hey, it's my first exposure, if only in a small dose, to 3F, and the name now makes sense, as the place name ode that it is.

A: Pours a hazy amber color with one finger foamy, off-white head, decent retention with sporadic lacing.

S: Very fruity aroma, does remind of a lambic slightly with a little tartness to it. A little musty/funk and a very floral aroma at the end.

T: Nice grassy flavor up front mixed with some light fruit, mostly apple and grape. There is a little bit of funk, but the flavor profile is a lot less lambic driven than the aroma was.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Dry finish.

O: Different, not really similar to many beers I have had, and for that I give it some props. The sour fan in me would have preferred a bit more from the lambic, but at only 18% of the beer, I didn't expect it to be over the top.

Thanks, Craig. 78% Saison with spices, 18% Drie Fonteinen lambic. Pours a glowing but cloudy amber with a tall head that retains nicely. Spicy, floral nose with citrus, ginger, mild funkiness and oak, slight sourness. Palate is light but flavorful, citrus forward (orange, pineapple, lemon) with moderate but indistinct spiciness, some herbal hop bite and a balanced, integrated sourness. The finish is bitter, spicy, strongly tannic. This is surprisingly good.
