Pours dark and thin with light fizzy head. Aroma is bandaids, smoky campfire. Flavor is overwhelming. Smoky, lots of tannins, very very tart, very tangy, makes my eyes water. Swallow is spicy - thanks hot chili’s. Don’t notice barrel aging at all. Feel is thin. Overall - why?

This is review for Batch #3 aged athe least 4 years in the bottle.

Pitch black color. Zero carbonation. smell of the hot chili's up front, followed by the sour aging smell that they used to age the beer (much less sour smell then originally have went firsto tasted years ago). Nice blueberry finish to the bouquet.
This beer needs to sit open for hour before drinking just as an aged wine would. Flavorso are blended with pungent blueberry and the hot chili on the finish. A little creamy on the mouthfeel.
Suggestion is to definitely sit on this beer for many years. I've tasted it over the last 4 years a bunch of times from my other bottles I had and it is finally tasting drinkable.

A: Pours up a deep opaque brown (almost black) with reddish hues apparent. One finger, reddish, adobe head.
S: As described, some of the pepper marries with blueberry, but the dominating force is the pediococcus.
T: As described, but once again the pedio. dominates, although the pepper is more apparent here and the whiskey notes are much more apparent. Intensely sour but with hints of chocolate, no real roastiness.
M: Still fairly, silky, but sharp. Slightly milky.
O: I hate beers like this, but I really really like this beer a lot, it is definitely worth your time.

Pours like a dead beer, totally lifeless. Nose is sour funky blueberry and acetone with some earthy chocolate character. Flavor is of the utmost tartness. Can't find any whiskey barrel in here, but mega sour fruit. Overall, a weird beer that is misclassified

Reviewed from notes. Poured from an odd-shaped 11.2 oz. bottle into a Russian River goblet. The label claims Batch #3 quite prominently.

A: Up front - before the pour - there was no “pfft” upon opening the bottle. Pours a very dark brown with some blueberry-colored purplish around the edges. Not quite opaque, but with a very small head and low visible carbonation.

S: Blueberries, acetic acid and vinegar, whiskey. Mildly tart and some chili heat in the background.

T: Huge acetic vinegar, then some blueberry sweetness and a fairly mild whiskey presence. Then it feels like you’re snorting some balsamic vinegar. Then hints of chili spice with the roasted malts. Then more terrible acetic sourness.

M: A thick, slick body, alcohol presence on the low side, and has minimal carbonation – almost flat.

O: This was terrible. Nothing on the label indicated sour...so I'm guessing this was infected. If it was intended to be a sour stout, they needed to state that in the description; they also need to rework their souring plan. I generally love Flanders ales and their ilk, but this is awful.

Batch #3 from the bottle.

Absolutely no head. Pitch black in color. Taste is obviously sour, with very little blueberry characteristics.

This beer is nothing to get excited about.

375ml bottle, batch 3. Served in a snifter glass. Dark brown body, one finger mocha coloured head, fair retention, not much lacing. Smells of lactic acidity, light funk, mild milk chocolate and spice, oak, touch of blueberry. The blueberry is overall not particularly strong, while the lactic acidity is fairly dominant over the milk chocolate sweetness and peppery spice. It's certainly unique and worth trying once, but it won't accomplish any one thing particularly well, other than the moderate-heavy lactic acidity.
