Collaboration blend with Mikkeller/Amager. A blend of Hr.Fredriksens (Amager) and Beer Geek Brunch Weasel (Mikkeller) - then aged in bourbon barrels.

On tap. (And what a surprise to find this.)
A - Very dark brown colored pour that's borderline black color with a thick, toffee colored head.
S - Char and light smoke, delicate bourbon, cocoa, and milk chocolate.
T - Toasted milk chocolate, delicate smoke and char, bourbon, oak, lingering chocolate roast with bourbon. Also has very nice roasted toffee.
M - Full bodied, thick, creamy, and velvety.
O - This beer is blended incredibly well. Even though it was the very last pour from the keg, it was still good.

its the not barrel version taken to the next level. while the coffee is less intense than it was in the normal version, it is worthily sacrificed on the altar of mouthfeel. the barrel unites the two stouts blended here where perhaps they were a bit disjointed before, and the vanilla and char elements from the barrel marry perfectly into the stout, my only critique is that it seems to add a little hotness to the finish, warming alcohol on the swallow, but the body it gives, and the softness in the carbonation more than make up for it. like the regular one, i would have loved to see a bit more coffee in this, being the special kopi stuff, but this is a beautiful and highly refined massive stout, as good as i expect from mikkeller, but not quite so unique as his brunch. layers of licorice and tobacco and dark chocolate all weave together, its complex but somehow simple for what it is too, just an excellent stout by all counts. a little pricey at 18 or 19 bucks, but theres not much on the market to compare to it, so worth a try if this is your cup of tea without question.

Body – Dark brown/black, opaque. When held to the light, still opaque.
Head – Average (Maximum 3.5 cm, aggressive center pour), tan, medium density, below average duration, diminishing to a three mm circlet and a heaped rocky cap.
Lacing – None.
Aroma – 4.25 – Roasted malt, chocolate, some dark fruit, coffee.
Flavor – 4 - Begins with roasted malt and alcohol (10.7 % ABV). The chocolate peers from the background and the coffee and dark fruit are undetectable. No distinct flavors of either bourbon or barrel can be detected. No dimethylsulfide, no diacetyl.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium, slightly creamy, lively carbonation.
Impression and summation – 3.5. -0.25 point for being too cheap to put a date on the bottle. The aftertaste is dominated by alcohol fumes and destroys the roasted malt goodness, rather than enhancing it. ‘Way overpriced for the quality.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a deep, dark brown color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a 3/4", foamy, long-lasting head. Not much lacing to speak of.
S: A very good aroma of bourbon, coffee, malt, chocolate, vanilla, and char.
T: Tasted of a fair amount of malt (present throughout), a decent bit of dark chocolate (could've used more), some char, a good shot of bourbon (and its accompanying oak barrel), and a lot of coffee. This is one of those flavors that grew on me. It's a boozy and burnt at first, but it settles down and the other ingredients emerge. Complex and tasty.
F: An average amount of carbonation with a warm, smooth finish. Medium-bodied.
O: A solidly made, likable beer. Drinkable.

Bourbon whiskey's well underneath, hardly worth mentioning, same goes for any and all chocolate notes. The scales are not balanced, have to say it's not at all worth the $20 bomber.
