March 2015: 500 ml bottle, batch #913. ABV is 10,0%. Pitch black colour, large brown head. Aroma of roast malts, strong coffee and leather, hints of dark chocolate, liquorice and caramel. Rich flavour, not too sweet, not too dry - distinct notes of roasted barley / strong coffee, liquorice, dark bitter chocolate and some caramel, also bittering hops. Powerful stuff.

Old school American style stout. OVER 2 YEARS ,yet still hop bitterness adding flavour. Good roaming and bittersweet chocolate contributes as well. A good drinker, hiding high abv.

Pours black with a half finger of khaki head. Head falls away rather quickly with a spiderweb of lacing left behind. Aroma is toasted and nutty malts with dark chocolate and coffee behind. Flavor profile is toasted and nutty malts, keeping the beer from dipping into the depths of darkness. A little coffee and dark chocolate mingle around the middle of the flavor profile, lightning up the modest stout qualities. Mouth feel is medium-thin with an otherwise unremarkable texture. It's neither grainy and gritty nor fizzy nor velvety and creamy. Overall, a solid lighter stout with a dash of coffee and dark chocolate added to the back end.
Served in a 12oz snifter.

From a growler via Eightball Brewing in a snifter. This monster pours a deep dark coal like the
band Mercyful Fate with a modest head of light brown foam that settles to a thin ring and subtle
pool with light lacing. Nose of coffee, chocolate, bittering hops, light licorice, and light char.
Flavors hit the perfect notes for the style with dark cocoa riffing off of the flavors like Artillery's
"By Inheritance" on the notes of coffee while King Diamond talks trash about his Grandmother
with smooth herbal hop notes lightly touched by licorice flavors as mellow as White Lions "Broken
Heart". Excellent mouth feel; smooth, mellow, lightly warming, subtly creamy, low carbonation,
and near perfect for the style.
Overall, excellent....and better than King Diamond's operatic mischief.
Gotta hand it to the Danes, they know their metal!
Cheers!
