L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a dark, mahogany brown color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy, off white head that quickly dissipated. Not much lacing.

S: A decent, but not spectacular, aroma of malt, smoke, chocolate, caramel, and vanilla.

T: Tasted of a bit of sweet chocolate (could've used more), a decent amount of caramel, a fair bit of smoke (less than expected), lots of malt (a dominant ingredient), and a hint of vanilla. Kind of a thin flavor all around. The ingredients are there, but they're just watered down. Needed a boost in most cases.

F: A fair amount of carbonation with a smooth, if a little thin, finish. Medium-bodied.

O: This beer is something of a mess, but it has its good qualities.

Bottle has no dating.

It pours black but with faint red hues, big fluffy head of tan foam, respectable lacing.

Smells of milk chocolate, kinda nutty, smoky, really nice nose.

The taste is of caramel malt, milk chocolate, toffee, a bit nutty, smoky, on the sweet side but not too sweet. No discernible bitterness.

Silky smooth mouthfeel due in part to the light carbonation.

Very very enjoyable.

Amager The Amazing Gotland Campfire Beer, 6% ABV. Pours dark brown to black, with a one finger tan head. Nose is malty, a touch of smoke, caramel, and light vanilla. Taste follows, strong caramel, slightly sweet, slightly bitter roastiness. Excellent mouthfeel, overall excellent. Not a smoke bomb.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown with a half finger dark khaki head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of dark caramel malt and smoke house. Flavor is caramel malt, wood smoke, a touch of peaty iodine, dry toffee. Finishes with hints of dark fruit, toffee and residual smoke. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A good smoked malt beer with a hint of peat, but mostly wood smoke in a mellow caramel malt body. The malt seems a little muted in flavor to carry the smokiness, even though the smoke is not as strong as other smoked beers. This is pleasant enough and hit the spot for a decent smoked beer, but Aecht Schlenkerla puts up a pretty high bar for this style and this one has to limbo under. I liked it well enough, but would pick the classic next time, especially at the Scandinavian price point.

On tap at The Beer Market in Rochester, NY.

This one pours a fairly dark brown, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.

This smells like sweet woody smoke, vanilla frosting, and caramel.

This is surprisingly really nice. The smoke is definitely present, but not overwhelming, and melds very well with the vanilla bean sweetness, with a big woody flavor, a nice caramel/chocolate malt backbone. It really does invoke a campfire quite well.

This is medium bodied, fairly creamy, with a good level of carbonation. It's surprisingly really drinkable.

It's always fun to find random beers that end up being quite tasty.

From Mikkeller Shop. In Mahou Barrica glass. Playing Day of the Tentacle Remastered. Too much smoke for me here. Like smoking. Hides everything else. It took a long time to finish. Cant say I enjoyed it

Promises marshmallow and sweet, but the smoke and wood flavor is pretty much all there is with this beastie. Overpowering and unpleasant, unfortunately. I hate to give Amager a bad ding, since I adored their Double Black Mash. But this one is a stinker.
