Pours dark brown. Foamy, short, tan head fades fast.

Smells toasted coconut, roast malt, caramel and chocolate.

Tastes roast Malts, dark chocolate and toasted coconut. Followed by light earthiness and light coffee. Finish is Semi dry with coconut linger. Medium body and creamy lower carbonation.

A-pours black with a tan head with average retention
S-tons of coconut, cocoa, milk chocolate
T-more milk chocolate, burnt sugar, followed by lots of coconut, and lastly roasted coffee
M-medium bodied with average carbonation
O-Definitely lots of coconut, I feel like the porter in the background could be a bit more complex, but overall a pretty decent brew

The read makes you really expect something different. The smell follows through nicely. The taste however is severely lacking. Nothing there, no one home. Such a disappointment.

A bit of a disappointment. Not near as robust as I was thinking it was going to be. Pours dark with little or no head or lacing. The nose is mostly neutral, no really strong notes of anything. The taste and mouth feel are the same. When it was branded as "CoCoNut Porter" it was an entirely different beer.

Where I'm coming from (park slop coop), it seems sinful to ship beer from Maui to here. Leave the great water there rather than burn carbon to get here. That said, it's good, but not quite worth the trip.
A) Pours a dark brown hue, near black, beige head that flattens to nothing and leaves little lace.
S) Toasted coconut upfront with sweet chocolate, coffee, caramel, cola, and vanilla all join in.
T) Coconut front and center - which has become so popular. Bitter-sweet chocolate and cold coffee are the base. Above are candy flavors of vanilla and malted milk are balanced with just enough earthy, leafy hops and roast bitterness. Nice profile (too sweet for me, good dessert beer)
F) Carbonation is reserved, finishes sweet and chocolaty, but balanced enough with the roast to not be cloying. Thinner and sweeter than I'd like.
O) I find myself reaching for salty foods rather than dessert to complement this already sweet beer. Been shipped too far for me to enjoy without carbon concerns. Coconut was just right. Original.

12 oz can dated 9/7/16 (9 months old... yeah - I know)

Pours a deep orange brows color with a fluffy 3 finger head that settles quickly.

Aroma is strong of toasted coconut and dark malt

Taste is fairly well balanced for the coconut and malt, probably because it is not too sweet. The porter flavor is vary mellow and tasty and the coconut plays well on it.

Feel is surprisingly light for a porter - I'm guessing there is less malt than typical? Very low bitter, some seltzer.

Not a bad beer. I'm not huge on coconut in beer but I heard this was a good take on it. My discriminating factor is if it is too heavy on some part of it, particularly the flavor. While the coconut is is strongly present it is not overpowering, which is a plus.

12 ounce can into pint glass, canned on 4/24/2017. Pours crystal clear very dark brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Nice soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toasted coconut, vanilla, brown bread, light coffee/cream/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt and coconut notes; with great strength. Taste of big milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toasted coconut, vanilla, brown bread, light coffee/cream/herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal hop and roast bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, caramel, brown sugar, toasted coconut, vanilla, brown bread, light coffee/cream, herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and coconut flavors; with an awesome roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Slight dryness from hop/roast bitterness, lightly increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/silky, and slightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this is an awesome flavored American porter! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt and coconut flavors; very smooth, easy, and pretty refreshing to drink. Really impressive richness and complexity for the 6%; great balance of coconut flavors, without feeling artificial. A really enjoyable and delicious offering.

This is a great porter, I don't get a lot of coconut, but I like this beer. I will buy again for sure.

12 oz. can poured into a nonic style pint glass.

This one pours a little lack luster, not much life to the half finger tan head that was gone in less than a minute. The body is root beer in color and doesn't let much light through. The nose isn't very strong but the dark roast and sweet cocoa aromas are nice. The taste is a little more robust with the same dark roasted malts and sweet cocoa. The bitterness is low but within the style. Unfortunately I didn't get any coconut or hop flavors coming through. Bodywise it's a bit on the light side for the style with the carbonation a little high.

Not bad but seems a little mundane. I am keeping an eye out for some fresh/er cans in hopes of a better result.
