Hazy golden color with a very lively, rich and long lasting foamy head. Smell is citrus with some hints of pine. Taste is just like the smell with a combination citrus/malt finish. Very smooth with perfect carbonation level. This is an excellent beer that I was happy to find and would get again.

1L howler from Keg n Cork - they of the idea that BeerThirst could guarantee that they would be the only place to have this on tap around the whole damned province of Alberta - hah!

This beer pours a slightly hazy, medium apricot amber colour, with one skinny-ass finger of wispy and bubbly dirty white head, which leaves some sparse mitochondrial lace around the glass as things quickly sink away.

It smells of musty, indistinct citrus fruit, those chalky candies you had as a kid and still give out at Hallowe'en, grainy and mildly crackery pale malt, and further leafy, weedy, and grassy hop bitters. The taste is bready and doughy pale malt, a hint of gritty caramel, clammy orange and white grapefruit flesh, hints of further muddled tropical fruit, a touch of wayward son yeast, and more leafy, earthy, and wet grassy hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly innocuous in its gently rendered frothiness, the body a decent enough middleweight, and mostly smooth, the resident hops more of the laid-back, can't we all just get along sort. It finishes off-dry, the lingering mutt-ish malt and neutered, yet still robust fruitiness carrying the day.

Overall, a pleasantly hopped-up Yankee pale ale, the minor tropical tendencies of the hoppy fruitiness doing well to highlight this one's point of origin. Easy to drink, and well worth the strangely low US import price, at least compared to its fellow Stateside offerings of late.

On tap at the brewery tasting room in Lahaina.

A: hazy, light amber, somewhat golden in color. solid white foam with strong lacing.

S: toasty malt, pineapple, light hops.

T: just like it smells, with a good balance of malt, hops and pineapple, with a bit of grapefruit. slightly above average hop bitterness. Mild aftertaste.

M: a bit gritty, well carbonated, hop bitterness lingers well on the back of the tongue, but not overly so.

D: an enjoyable APA, but not great. was told by one of the brewery employees this is a seasonal for them and has been well received so far, so I had a second sample. again, enjoyable and I'd be happy to drink one if offered, but not great.

12oz can

A- pours a light amber color with a small foamy white head that has decent retention

S- citrus and grassy hops, undertones of pine, slightly ready malt

T- citrusy hops up front gives notes of orange zest and grapefruit peel, followed by a bit of pine. The finish brings a bit of bready malt to balance it out, lingers of tangerine and grapefruit zest

M- medium body and carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel and a crisp finish

O- nice west coast style pale ale that packs plenty of citrusy hops but balanced as well

Really light straw golden look, minimal head. I can already smell this beer as its being placed in fromt of me, hops!! Crisp hop burst through, maybe simcoe not over bearing. The body is a lik thin but its a APA, some might want a lik more body. This reminded me of a west coast SIPA, nice bright hop taste w/minimal malt body if any. Great job.
