DRinking a cellar temp bottle poured into a snifter. The bottle has been in my cellar for a little bit so I wonder how it has held up.
Pours a very dark brown color with fizzy and tightly packed beige head of 3 cm that fades to a sturdy surface layer that remains through the sampling.
Aroma is toffee and some brown sugar, maybe a little oxidation but very faint on the nose. Appealing sweet scents on this beer.
First sip reveals an average body with crisp texture and very fine tingly carbonation.
Flavor is grainy and sweet malt with some toffee and a little bit of brown sugar too. Finish is a little lingering spicy hops. Very drinkable flavor, again just a hint of oxidation but it doesnt ruin the beer.
A pretty decent lager that Iwish I had tried a little earlier in my possession but still pretty tasty. I would like t try another bottle fresh.

Probably Weeping Radish's best beer. Picked up at Harris Teeter supermarket in Kill Devil Hills. They kept it refrigerated (non pasturized beer). Pours a dark dense brown wit some light getting through when held to a light. Medium size off white head. Average to below retention. Some lacing.

Aroma is roasted malts, fairly ild but pleasant. Taste is the best part of this beer. Rich flavor of roasted malt, a little smoky and perhaps a faint hint of coffee.

Mouthfeel is light but not too thin. Very smooth. Goes down real easy. Drinkability is fine. This would be an ideal session beer. Very nice.

Undated can at 40 degrees into standard pint glass
Aroma of roasted malt
Head average (4 cm), light brown, creamy, slowly diminishing
Lacing none
Body dark amber, clear
Flavor begins with slightly sweet roasted malt which quickly ends with a malty bitterness; no hops, no alcohol, no diacetyl
Palate medium, creamy, soft carbonation

An OK swartzbier, not the best but still OK. I had this for the first time at my first Penn State beer festival in 2006 and haven’t seen it at ant other northern fests. The first beer I ever ordered on line was a case of this in bombers a couple of years ago (They no longer ship beer). My expectations were high; unfortunately the reality didn’t meet them.

Pours a deep chestnut or brown with a decent size head that was tan in color.
Aroma was light, but the overall aroma was of roasted malts.
Taste pretty good with a nice roasted character and some hop bitterness.
Had a decent mouthfeel but had a slight astringency at the finish.

Overall a good beer but flavor is lacking as in diluted or watered down.

Enjoyed from the tall boy can in a snifter. This nice schwarz pours a deep blackish brown with a moderate head of off white foam that settles to a thick ring, very light small pool, and light lacing. Nose features subtle cocoa and roasted malts with a touch of grains. Flavors lightly exceed the nose with cocoa and light coffee notes on all sides, grain notes hit on the sides and back with a touch of caramel malt. Decent mouth feel, medium carbonation, and a lightly bitter cocoa and bitter malt aftertaste. Overall it is decent, but nowhere near as good as the fest beer they once brewed.

22oz bottle poured into a Schneider Weizen Glass.

A - Cola-brown with reddish highlights and a thin khaki head that settles to a slight cap.
S - Dark malt with a touch of cocoa, coffee, and some citrus hops.
T - More dark malt, a bit of chocolate, roasted nuts, and coffee with a faint hop presence.
M - Smooth, with a medium-thin body and moderate carbonation.
O - Not overly complex, but for a sessionable beach beer it's pretty good. Wish I had time to stop my the brewery, maybe next time.

tap at the brewery

Pours an opaque black, light tan film for a head.

Smells of smokey and woody elements.

Flavor is smokey, biscuit malts and a woody dry finish.

Thin body with a sting of carbonation on the tongue.

Seeing as this isn't the most common style even at German beer breweries, it's nice to see this as a standard on rotation. It's pretty decent, but a tad watery in the flavor and body. Overall worth a try for fans of the style.

500mL bottle into a standard pint glass. The beer pours a nice deep almost opaque black with a thin head that diminishes to barely a ring. The aroma was some dark malts, slight caramel and chocolate notes as well. The taste is a nice blend of roasted malts and slight chocolate with a distinct wheat beer touch. The beer is light with decent carbonation. This was a moderately enjoyable beer, but not likely one I'd try again.

Dark, chestnut brown. Not a schwarzbier color wise. Foamy, off white head. caramel, sweet malt aroma. Almost a raisen like tang. Malty enough flavor upfront. Presents a somewhat metallic/sulfury taste. Slight hop bitterness in the fade. Nice full mouthfeel. Overall there is better out there. I hate to dis Weeping Radish but for me the have never been the same since the move from Manteo. I try them each year and it just is not there for me.

Jet black beer with a tan head that leaves no lacing. The aroma is pure coffee with some toasted malts and a tiny bit of cocoa. The taste is tangy with coffee and a light creamy sweetness. It tastes quite like a porter. This is a decent beer that has a good flavor.

Appearance: It has a nice dark brown color to it with some amber hues shining through. It has a nice off-white head that dies down somewhat fast and leaves next to no lacing.

Smell: The aromas definitely give out hints of toasted malts, some nuttiness, burnt caramel and a hint of coffee.

Taste: Like the aromas, it has a some toasted/roasted malts, some nuttiness, sweet caramel and faint coffee.

Mouthfeel: It has a low carbonation with a somewhat light overall balance and feel.

Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied by decent flavors and aromas.

Serving type: can

This was an ok schwarzbier. The appearance had a thick little head, but it was very bubbly, I guess a little over carbonation. The smell was very malty, with a little hop spike. Along with the strong malt smell, was a faintness of smoke. Taste was kind of like a porter light. Chocolate malt and a smokey finish were the predominate tastes. Drinkability was kind of average. Nothing really stood out for me.
