Got this from rutger this past summer
From a 500ml bottle into a snifter
Sweet Virginia Series
Mexican Chocolate Imperial Stout
APPEARANCE: A clear dark brown pour yields a three finger, medium looking, creamy light tan head with excellent retention. Clear black body with medium levels of carbonation. Head slowly recedes to a full creamy cap. A faint wisp and ring remain leaving touches of lacing down the glass.
SMELL: Definite milk chocolate, vanilla aromas, peppers and spicy notes as well. Bold nose and plenty interesting.
TASTE: Licorice, milk chocolate with notes of vanilla and peppers at the swallow. A bit of spices and pepper heat but it’s mild. Bold finish of licorice, milk chocolate, vanilla sweetness, smoky peppers, a bit of spices and some mild chili heat lingers on the palate. Flavorful for sure.
PALATE: Medium body and medium levels of carbonation. Silky and creamy on the palate, goes down fine and finishes quite sticky. Some mild chili heat lingers.
OVERALL: Good stuff. The licorice flavor is a little meh, but it comes from the peppers. Otherwise, this is solid stuff and plenty enjoyable. Thanks again, rutger!

500ml bottle served in a tulip. 2018 bottle.
Pours black with a small head and not a lot of carbonation. Smell is roasted coffee with a sudden wave of chocolate. I definitely get cinnamon and vanilla. Maybe too much cinnamon...my old enemy.
Taste reminds me a lot of an imperial russian stout (it's been so long!) -- strong anise. Chocolate and coffee and vanilla take a bake seat. But, happily, cinnamon is also reduced to a more palatable level for me.
Mouthfeel is surprisingly light and crisp. Overall...it's not bad, but too much cinnamon in the aroma and too much anise in the flavor damp my excitement.

500 ml bottle
Pours about a finger of light brown head into my tulip glass. I can hear it lightly fizzing. Body is jet black, even when held up to the light, zero hues. Some bubbles are illuminated crawling up the side of the glass. Head retention is just slightly below average.
Nose is interesting. Some sweet chocolate and cocao, as well as some burnt chocolate and malt. A tiny bit of umami, though it's very faint. A small dose of spices, though they don't take center stage. Sweet sugars are certainly here, but it's not a sugar bomb. Maybe a touch of coffee as well. For some reason I was expecting more spice, or umph in general. Not blown away, but I can tell it will be good, so I'll go 4 here. It has enough subtle aromas to be an interesting nose.
Wow, this beer goes down like butter. Definitely some coffee here. Light amount of spices, nothing too flashy. Chocolate is hardly noticeable, barely even here. These are mostly background flavors though, as the palate is primarily a creamy start, leading into a sweet middle, with a burnt, dry finish. Really not a very powerful beer in terms of flavor, but I'm actually ok with it here. It transitions really well, it's smooth as all hell, it's not too sweet, and there isn't any umami - the latter two being my biggest criticisms of big stouts.
As mentioned, the smooth feel and transition are impressive. While this is partly flavor, it's also partly feel. Carbonation is pretty low here, but it's acceptable, it works. I wouldn't call the body particularly thick, but it is as smooth as silk. Sugars do not linger at all, which is nice because they are present. Burnt chocolate/malt that flirts with bitterness does not linger either, and provides a nice character. Oh and did I mention, this is 10% and drinks like nothing. Really a special mouthfeel.
Drinkability is outstanding for the style, and in general, whether it be the smoothness, the flavor, the way it hides the alcohol, it all flows.
The appearance turned out...eh. Lacing was pretty non existent. The head was ok, but nothing special. The color of the body was impressive, but overall a sub par appearance here.
Overall it may seem weird to give so much praise over the feel, and lack of certain personal off flavors, but it really makes the difference here. The sugars are in check, the umami is nowhere to be found, the beer is as smooth as velvet, and it hides it alcohol with style. The flavor is good, not great, but that's fine. Very good beer.

Didn’t pick up any chilies in the aroma, taste or mouthfeel; for this style of stout, I always look forward to that lingering low-grade heat on the tongue after each sip. Not the case here, but an otherwise enjoyable imperial stout with a creamy and thick feel.
Coal black pour with a tightly packed cap of mocha-brown head. Great looking beer.
Aroma is bitter dark chocolate, roasted malts, char and licorice.
Taste is char, bitter chocolate, molasses, dark cocoa powder. A wisp of dark fruit at the tail end of the sip.
Thick, smooth and hearty - nice heft to the beer that carries the weight of the ABV.

Ordered a pFriem Triple IPA, was mis-poured this instead at Community Pint. I wound up quite happy with that.
Inky black, with a good sized mocha colored head. Lots of lace.
Rich nose to this. Lots going on. Roasted dark malt aromas common to stouts, but also some earthy chili pepper notes and some bittersweet, chocolaty scent.
Rich flavor to this. Although I don't think vanilla is one of the featured adjuncts, there's a little bit of it in the flavor. The chili peppers give off just enough heat so that you know they're there, balancing the roasty, coffeeish malts and the sweetness of the cocoa and/or chocolate that was added. Everything is well balanced and smooth, with little hint of the high alcohol.
Somewhere between medium and full bodied, with a creamy, coating mouthfeel.
I really liked this beer. So glad T.J. mispoured this. He was also kind enough to not charge me for it. I had intended to drink a bottle of this, but now that I've had it, I think I'll forward the one I bought to my NBS BIF target.

Coal tar black body with a long lasting, creamy, light tan head. Heady aroma of roasted grains, chocolate and cocoa with a mild chili spiciness. Rich cocoa flavors; vanilla; some faint chili taste; some milk chocolate sweetness; some bitterness. Heavy body overall but with some watery lightness; mild pepper heat.
A well-made, flavorful big stout that delivers some very tasty chocolate and cocoa flavors with a deft touch of chili pepper taste and heat.
