I can't say I was impressed the first time I had this. I found it not all that complex and slightly boring.

What a difference a palate makes.

This is for those that crave a dry finish, complex hop profile, and drinkability in their pale ales. Much is made about balance, but usually without education. This beer straddles the line between drinkable and complex perfectly. It isn't so complex that one should drift off and contemplate the complexities of life but a drink that is interesting and yet it allows the drinker to continue to be sociable while still enjoying their drink.

Craft beer doesn't need to be aged in a barrel ... or procured after a two hour wait in a ridiculous line. Beers like this offer a nice reminder of that fact.

Served from a tallboy can into a pint glass. Canned on 3/19/14

A- Poured a hazy light orange color with huge fluffy bright white head that left webbed lace.

S- Big orange citrus and lemon hoppy notes (definitely smells like Amarillo), sweet bready notes, and some other light fruity notes. It is not a huge aroma but it is so well-balanced and the hop expression is very bright and welcoming.

T- Lots of grainy, bready, and oatmeal notes, very high herbal and earthy bitterness, and some light fruity notes.

M- Prickly carbonation, medium body, very dry, and pretty refreshing.

O- The hop aroma and the hop flavor in this beer were very different with a really bright citrusy nose and a more herbal and bitter hop flavor. The bitterness is pretty harsh and I think overshadows what could be a solid pale ale underneath.
