Appearance: Hazy light copper color, with a modest, persistent off-white head, and slight carbonation.
Aroma: Slightly tangy citrus hop not, tangible enough to make the mouth water when inhaling deeply, with a strong malt presence, and complex earthy notes.
Taste: Rather sharply bitter, oily hop notes at the open. According to the waitperson, the bittering hop used was Fuggle. Throughout most of the taste, there is a medicinal bitterness. As the taste progresses, a tangy, sour earth note appears. Finishes with a lingering medicinal bitterness.
Mouth feel: Smooth and full, pleasant.
Drinkability/notes: The sour, earthy notes spoiled my enjoyment, a bit too over-the-top. My waitperson told me that this beer was variously referred to as Uncle Billy's English Pale Ale or The EPA)

Glowing slightly cloudy orange pour with a small but nice white head atop. Smell is somewhat subtle as to be expected in an English pale, but some fruity apricot like hops are noticeable. Perhaps a touch of earthiness to them too. Taste is mild, but similar fruity flavors come through. Nice hop presence for an EPA, mild sweetness, and while not a robustly flavored beer, it didn't bore me at all like most of the style. Good mouthfeel, well crafted, and easily my favorite example of the style. Yet to have a bad beer at Uncle Billy's, and this place is a must visit for some nice craft beers when in town.
