This was another bottle score through Tavour, but I find myself buying fewer & fewer bottles so the Bottle Backlog at Chez Woody is truly dwindling. In the interim, there are some about which I get excited. Case in point …
From the Bottle: "Sometimes you invite the cool kid to the party. Citra hops bring a festival of stone fruit & citrus aromas, keeping the mood light and luminous[.]; "Recycle is good[,] Reuse is better"; "Our heavy-duty glass bottles can be cleaned & reused many times. Bring this bottle back to our Hood River Taproom or to one of our retailers."
I was anxious to Pop! the cap on this 500-ml bottle & begin a C-Line pour. Man, the head came rushing up unimpeded so I backed off & let it settle. I wound up with three-plus (!) fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with great retention, leaving a load of sticky lacing in its wake. Color was a gorgeous Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5) with NE-quality clarity & suddenly I was fighting with The Gelt Gang of Croesus, Mammon & Midas so that I could have a taste! They get greedy at times & this was NOT going to be one of them! Nose was very citrusy with grapefruit & lemon leading the way, followed by orange and tangerine. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium to full, not quite creamy, but close. How citrusy was it? It was actually lightly puckering from the tart grapefruit-lemon flavors! Mmm. What a great opportunity to try one of my more favorite hops all on its own! Finish was dry, mellow & a nice reminder of why I am a self-avowed, self-described hophead.

500ml bottle, dated June 16, 2017, poured into a 14oz snifter glass. Enjoyed on 7.14.17, reviewed from Tasting Journal.
The beer pours a bright golden color, straw hues with light amber, a foamy white head with moderate retention and lace. The aromas are nice, pleasant citrus forward hops, light pine, quite floral with nice brightness, tame bitterness with a delicate doughy malt character, light mineral water and soft grain. The flavors are good, assertively hoppy without being aggressively bitter, light citrusy flavors, grapefruit and tangerine with a bright floral character while some pine and resinous green hop leaf even this beer out ahead of a light lingering grain flavor. The mouthfeel is good, coating and crisp with a lively medium body and a dry kick at the finish.
Verdict: A nice single hop IPA from Dobule Mountain. This is a great expression of citra, balanced, developed, I just wish there was more oomph! It's very restrained and tame, perhaps overly so, doesn't quite get the most out of such a great hop.

500ml bottle - apparently this is the cleaned-up label version for we oh-so-sensitive Canucks.
This beer pours a mostly clear, pale golden yellow colour, with three zaftig fingers of puffy, rocky, and chunky off-white head, which leaves a vast array of splattered lace around the glass as it quickly dissipates.
It smells of dank pine resin, orange and white grapefruit rind, grainy and crackery pale malt, further indistinct stone fruit flesh, some hard water flintiness, and more earthy, leafy, and grassy green hop bitters. The taste is bready and crackery pale malt, muddled domestic citrus peel, more peach and nectarine fruitiness, a wet minerality, and some waning leafy, weedy, and piney verdant hoppiness.
The carbonation is adequate in its swirling frothiness, the body a decent medium weight, and generally smooth, with a nice airy creaminess arising once things warm up a tad around here. It finishes dry, for the most part, with the Citra hops looming and predominating.
Overall, this is a rather well turned-out brew, the solo hop really bringing its A-game. Crisp, juicy, and quite a pleasure to drink, I could sip away at this for a long, long time, at least until the proverbial cows come home, or more darkly, the chickens come home to roost.
