Killer GreenKiller Green
Notes: Fresh Hop IPA. It’s harvest time! Straight from Sodbuster Farms in the Willamette Valley come Brewer’s Gold and Simcoe hops straight from the vine to the boil. Fresh bright evergreen, red fruit and blood orange lead the way, pulling juicy pine and kind herb through the finish. Be green. Drink Killer Green.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 9/19/2019. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy deep golden/amber/light orange color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pear, apricot, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon, black currant, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, bread dough, toasted biscuit, light honey/caramel, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big red grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pear, apricot, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon, black currant, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, bread dough, toasted biscuit, light honey/caramel, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, minty, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, lime, peach, pear, apricot, passion fruit, mango, honeydew melon, black currant, berries, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, cracker, bread dough, toasted biscuit, light honey/caramel, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy malts and sticky/resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.3%. Overall this is a fantastic wet hopped IPA. All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/earthy hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/resinous/drying finish; not overly aggressive. Fantastic Brewers Gold, Simcoe profile. Extremely vibrant, earthy, dank, and fairly juicy hops; with a great balanced clean bready malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp resin dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and outstanding style example as expected.

500ml bottle poured into tulip 4/12/16

A almost clear golden orange, tiny bubbles are everywhere but only manage a finger of dense foam that leaves just a few random spots

S soft caramel, herbal, leafy, sweet candy like hops, faint spruce, overripe mango and orange creamsicle

T more spruce and pine, some citrus rind, there's just a little booze popping up

M medium weight, the tiny bubbles cream it up, I wouldn't guess 97IBU's but it has a bitter bite, slick inside, sticky on the lips, big herbal piney finish

O decent wet hopped brew, couple months on it but still drinking fresh, maybe I was a little hard on the taste and smell score so a little inflated here

I liked it but I doubt I'd go back for a second crack at nearly 10$ for the half liter, I'll give next years batch another go if I see it around

Served chilled into a fluted tulip.

Pours a hazy, dark bronze color with an inch of airy, beige head that slowly recedes leaving moderate surface layer and lacing.

Took me a while to place the aroma. Smelled like pineapple juice to me.

Initial flavors are very grassy with a hint of pine. As it warmed the aforementioned flavors of pineapple juice came out. Sweet, sour and earthy.

Medium bodied with a dry finish. Moderate carbonation with very mild aftertaste.

Overall a nicely unique IPA with some interesting characteristics. Would definitely try again.

Had on tap last night at the Double Mountain / Podnah's BBQ & Beer meatztravaganza. What an event!

Beer appears rather cloudy and on the darker side for a DIPA. Very slight amount of head, perhaps because this was poured from a pitcher.

Nose is nice and hoppy but not particularly outstanding. The keg was produced about 8 months ago which could inhibit the bouquet. Pleasant but not great.

Taste is smooth, with somewhat of a grassy aspect to it. Not unlike having a piece of dried straw in your mouth. Not unpleasant but different for a DIPA. The hops are certainly attenuated after sitting in the keg for so long.

Drinkability seems high. The beer is fairly smooth and easy drinking so I could easily see packing away a few pints without noticing.

Overall, very drinkable DIPA. Too bad it was not fresh, I bet if it was fresh the score would increase significantly.
